Why all the negativity misc?

Listen fellas, and few ladies who venture into this cesspool.....

The misc has always sort of had a negative stigma. Between the constant e-fighting and hate speech, and general negativity towards one another and the opposite sex, this has gotten out of control. In no reality is some of the stuff posted here daily something you would say to anyone IRL. So why do it here? To vent?

If life's hitting you hard, you need to confide in friends IRL, or talk to a counselor. Over the years a lot of the stuff said in jest here in the misc has left an impression on some of the people here and your negativity has spread into their real lives. That's not cool, its not fair, and frankly, its pathetic.

Constant thread topics about dick size, facial aesthetics, e-fighting, women hate, race baiting etc have got to stop. You're all grown men, and i hope have enough maturity inside to know that the things you say are not acceptable.

So, lets try to be more positive. Be nicer to others, online and IRL, and see how that works out for a while? The misc can remain the "misc" without all the negative crap. You can still have your "lols" without it, and you will be a happier person in general if you aren't surrounded in constant negativity.

I challenge the misc to be better, I challenge you individually to stop being negative in all aspects of your life, and create a more positive outlook on life. I guarantee youll come out a much happier person.

Over the next few weeks, ill be handing our reps to those who have become more positive posting in the misc. Ill look at thread history, and see how you've been posting. And i think a fair reward for trying to better yourself is mod reps?

Because the misc is an area full of people who have not found the power of the mind. Proactivity is key in life and too many times people fill their heads with problems that are external. Be happy is what I say. Too much talk of things we cant change and too little time actually focusing on the things that we can change.

Should see my history over the last year and a half. I was really negative for a while, but realized I'm just spreading the sickness. Ask BobbyD :P.

I still occasionally rant though, sometimes I do misc in a bad mood unfortunately.

What has changed me and continues to change me is occasional eastern philosophy and the twelve steps (saw the best change following steps 4 to 7 in terms of attitude).

I just think the misc has a lot of insecure people who feel better about themselves if they can belittle others. I don't get why you would want to be negative; it's a waste of energy and is a selfpropicating force.

However, I think a lot of the users here are positive, kind, and helpful.

Actually Ken can attest to my changes as well.

I had hoped it would contribute to an air of positivity. But, usually positive posts get few replies and misc has gotten more negative in spite of my own efforts :/

Misc is a strange place, you have the lulziest guys and the most depressing FA -8/10 self esteem guys in the same forum.


I guess one attracts the other in a search for self-improvement.
Yet some are stuck so deep in their rut that the only thing they can do is try to bring others down to their level, instead of climbing up out of their hole.

I'm sorry but I believe that people should take responsibility for their own lives. If they are not of sound mind as to not take things said on this forum as a joke, then they should not be on here.

If it is such an issue then there should be a massive warning displayed before entering not just "the misc, NSFW".

This is a place, IMO, where young brahs come to say chit that they wouldn't say in reality. If people that come on here can't handle what is said then they shouldn't be here.

im not naive enough to think a change will happen over night, nor do i think this needs to turn into carebear land, but i thinka little positivity will go a long way in what is largely deemed one of the most negative places on the internet.
