From what I've been through recently, I'd recommend going to see someone. Therapist, counselor, psychologist, psychiatrist, heck I think you can actually go to a general practitioner if the idea of therapy scares you. Just ask for a depression screening and go from there.

I'm in a competitive profession and afraid that I might get stigmatized.

That's why I've been delaying seeking treatment b/c I am concerned that they may diagnose me with something.

Feel differently on vs. off since you began taking them?

Not too much actually, except during periods of high stress (for me, final exams) I would start feeling down again if I was off

Good morning thread

Feeling a lot better today compared to last night.
Had some pretty good aches all over my body (not flu), and pretty severe diarrhea and stomach cramps as I got off work and on the ride home. Sucked really. Ate some Greek yogurt for dinner and went to bed at 7 PM. Feel pretty damn good right now.

today (or yesterday as I type this) I got a phone call from my mom

My (estranged) daughter is 20, refuses to work (bagging groceries is to hard) .

I am heartbroken. We used to be best friends FFS.
..she would say we couldn't be friends because I was her daddy

but I had to leave her mom when she was 13.....I couldn't take it....it was either leave and find myself or die at my own hand from misery.

I am happy now personally... but my daughter suffers and I wonder what I did to cause it....

she is unkempt..doesn't care how she looks...feels entitled to everything...refuses to work....

she is smart (got my IQ!!!) but her mom sent her to Christian school//a lot of good it did...colleges were courting her, yet she does NOTHING.

I am disappointed and heartbroken.

I have a court date in a week and 1/2 foe back support from when I got laid off...on;y 7k biu 5.5k more than I have. The rest I guess will be a loan.....and what does she want...computers, games, game systems, and co-play outfits.


I am unhappy.... I am disappointed in her. I am clearing my business account just to satisfy the state to make her happy, despite it being every freaking penny I have and potentially costing me my business.

I lose everything but a loving (new)wife and grand babies.

My own flesh and blood...I am nothing more than 7k of games and costumes...........

you have been absent from her life since she was 13? did you see her at all during the past 7 years? the reason I ask is because she has been raised under your ex-wife's direct daily influence..I dont know what kind of person she is or what her values might be but this does get passed down to our children..
my oldest son went to christian schools up til 8th grade and then a public high school. He is also 20 years old..married, and in college but if you had asked me a couple years back? I would have said the boy is not gonna make it...had some issues with smoking (not tobacco) and jail..

this money she gets in back child support...it is her choice of course what to spend it on? you as her father can only advise her to invest it or use it for a better vehicle or college..what she actually spends it on will be up to her?

Word. So people change and grow up. LBM's son was smoking stuff and had a brush/es with the law, but now he's turned out well and is doing well from the sound of it. Hope she spends it wisely somehow though. Hope she understands what you're being made to sacrifice for her toys.

Just visiting my grandpa in the hospital today. We had a close scare but he's feeling fine, just aggravated that they haven't released him yet.

Aside from that, I told my daughter she can play any game in my collection she wants, but let me put it in and this system has worked but she insisted on putting NintendoLand in for herself yesterday, the disc dropped to the tile floor, got kinda messed up which is why I always put the games, and the movies they want to use, in myself. And when I said "No" she threw a fit and called me a bad daddy. Been harassing the cat. Been throwing things all over the place making a huge mess. Loud. Mishaving. I let her play games on my iphone sometimes but not anymore not since she threw it up in the air and failed to catch it when it came down....she was like almost skating around on my graphic novels. WTF what kid gets into everything? HEY! My books, my blu rays, my games, they are fine but let me be there to show them to her, and handle them properly. Poor cat hates her too.

And aside from that, I also want a drink or 10 in the worst way tonight.

on the end of a long work week yet again.
Stressed yesterday but feeling alright today.
Hit 216 lbs this morning which feels good.

The kids are away for a week and I am taking 3 days off next week to recharge my batteries.

I think the hardest part is trying to find the same enjoyment out of things you used to have sober. I take a step forward then step 10 back.

your daughter is at an age where she is deciding all by herself who it is she wants to be and what values she holds dear...these may not be yours or what you feel may be best for her..
this stage of being a parent is lots of fun..its the hands off stage

War Machine holy chit I am so full of rage hearing your story. I can't even imagine what you must be going through mentally. Obviously I don't know everything about the situation, but perhaps that sense of entitlement was learned from her mother (I assume she got child support/ alimony upon you two divorcing)?

Knowing what you know now, would you have gotten married? I see misc is all over this issue and it seems to weigh on men now more than ever. Sorry you have to go through it, but it sounds like you have some good things in your life as well (new wife, you're in good physical health, have your own business).

Hey man, how long have you been alcoholic? Since your teens or what? Mixing prescription drugs and alcohol? I can understand the feeling of wanting or needing to drink to kind of escape the monotony or depression of life, easing social anxiety, feeling at ease in the world, but IMO alcohol has a tendency to "numb" people over time. Have you ever felt happy while sober?
