To handle authority in a manner people can respect, you have to be consistent, impartial, and definitely leave your own ego at the door. My Aikido instructor used to point out that people respect Mt. Fuji for what it is, not because it campaigns for respect.

Eh. I really don't think this thread churns up as much drama as its reputation implies. Anyone who classifies an extra neg here or there as "drama" needs to get out more. It's a little mathematical counter on an internet forum. It's all but meaningless. On the other hand, it keeps "regulars" engaged in the forum, many of whom give out good advice on a regular basis. And that advice may actually benefit someone in real life.

There are a few nancys that wandered in, got a little ribbing or towel slaps, and then went off whining about it. Big deal. Likely they would have just gotten upset about something else anyway somewhere on the forum.

A few years ago a guy like t8rtot merely posting in this thread for the first time would have led to a meltdown.

A weeklong flamefest followed by multiple bans, thread closings, and a sticky warning from waaay up top.

Not to discount the effort Dom put in to smooth things over, but really was there a need for people to get their panties in a bunch in the first place?
