Exclamation Broke femur and tibial plateu, worst pain ever had

    Hey guys

Anyone had a tibial plateau fracture before? Basically was in a car accident about month and a half ago, and broke both my femur and tibial plateau (+ couple of ribs and some other smaller issues). Was the most horrific pain I've ever experienced. Recovery time is long, non weight bearing for at least 5 more week. All muscle in the leg is gone, and it sucks since I used to be a pretty heavy squatter (10 x 350 lbs). Now it's so much harder to train, I'm on crotches and things are hard. Doctors say I will be 100% again, but it's going to take a long time. Probably won't walk normally again before new years perhaphs.

If anyone wants to cheer me up or share experiences, go ahead

I broke my tibia plateau May 25th 2009 while rock climbing. After surgery and **** loads of physio I can now run, squat, cycle. However training frequency is much lower when it comes to legs also weight will be much lower. I've just stopped doing squats so I could focus more on running. It's about managing the pain and listening to your body (to a degree).

There will be light at the end of the tunnel just keep strong.

    My tibial plateau fracture

I was hit by a truck while biking to work and luckily only came out with a tibial plateau fracture. Happened on june 13th as of last month on the 4th they could still see the fracture. I still cant walk on it yet but i havent been able to get an orthopedic yet either. Having to go to urgent care to get xrayed. The pain when it happened sucked. Had to take pain meds every 3 hours. The er dr claimed id be fine in 10 days lol bull****. Im still struggling to put weight on it. One dr told me i could knit and crochet. Problem is i have to keep submitting paperwork every month due to my temporary disability so i dont get fired from work. Before my accedent i was squatting 225lbs 5x5. Now idk.
