I like the 80's too - don't get me wrong - but unlike our friend StressMonkey (just to pull a random name out of the hat), I am really a child of the 70's. I'm sure I'm not the only one!
This decade went from Peter, Paul, and Mary to Deborah Harry, from the Beatles to the B-52's, and from the Jackson Five to Michael Jackson. I hope people will find some worthy music (or other 70's artifacts) to post here.
To start, here is the #2 song on the first chart of 1970, "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (I could not stomach posting the #1, which was "Raindrops Keep Falling on my Head" - not all of the 70s was great).
Number 5 on the last chart of 1979, "Rock With You"
And finally, as promised two songs with misunderstood lyrics. Supposedly it's "gross" and "the Deuce" - but you can decide for yourselves. (I think 70's fashion can safely be left behind)

I'd go with the mid-70's to the late '80's. Groups like Chilliwack, the Eagles, Chicago--yes, even KISS had a few showstoppers--and more made the Seventies great. In the 80's, Debbie Harry (always liked her), Springsteen, and too many others filled my days and nights with music.
I blame rap for the downturn in society's IQ!!
Still not a Heart fan, though...."Don't call me Miss Kitty. Just...don't."--Catnip. Check out the Catnip Trilogy on Amazon.com
"Chivalry isn't dead. It just wears a skirt."--Twisted, the YA gender bender deal of the century!
Check out my links to Mr. Taxi, Star Maps, and other fine YA Action/Romance novels at http://www.amazon.com/J.S.-Frankel/e/B004XUUTB8/ref=dp_byline_cont_ebooks_1

You're not alone. But you forgot from Elton to Elton. The most successful artist of the 70's. Actually, '69 but Danial was on the wall.

thought I post this number one hit of the 70's and who doesnt know the words to this song.I'm open to any suggestions and have a difficult time accepting limitations without an honest effort on my part, you can count on that!
"iCan, iWill, iHave"
There are always choices, no bad ones, no good ones, only "great" ones,
"Oh, great!" :)

But barely .
I love music, so it's probably now surprise that I like most of the bands/vids mentioned. I'd also vote for the 70's being one of the greatest eras for music, ever. Of course, it was an era that evolved from the great late 60's, which you can't ignore or fail to mention. It was also an era that barely hung on for its life as it came to its close, as disco pretty much dominated the last couple of years of it. Everyone was wondering what was to come; The Stones, once again, announced retirement....as did The Who, lol. Aerosmith had gone from "on fire" to wtf? Pink Floyd had masterful albums come out about every 2yrs, until after The Wall....where we waited 4yrs for The Final Cut (83' - disappointing conglomerate of material, imo), and several more until Momentary Lapse. John Lennon and John Bonham died in 1980....Rush changed their sound, ZZTop changed their sound....and the 80's Big Hair Bands came in to rule. Ugly, but somewhat fun

I'm not old enough to remember most of the 70s, but Black Sabbath is by far my favorite band from that era.
I also love the 80s, the 90s, the 2000s and 2010s. Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) are getting ready to release their new album soon. They're older than my parents, and they're still making great music.

Thank you everyone for all the great songs posted (so far!) - old favorites and brand new favorites too.
D'oh!
That is so cute - now i feel like a dope.
And the Stones to the Stones, of course. Sir Reginald has done very well - he's worth something like 350 mil.
Mahalo Frank! I was going to post this just for SP1966, but you beat me to it.
One of the things I like about my gym is that it (usually) plays great music, including "Get It On" - I mean, how many gyms play T-Rex! I have to wonder if the kids there just think of this as old people's noise?Peace: Lift Long and Prosper!
