Haven't heard anything in ages, is he still planning to compete? Retire? How's his recovery going?

[QUOTE=Loctus;1488661041]He posted this on IG three weeks ago. I think it's safe to say that he's done with competitive bodybuilding and isn't planning any sort of comeback. Which is wise if you ask me. I wish him the best in future endeavours
/QUOTE]
He looks awesome, I always thought his lighter look was his best, i.e 2006/07 and even before that.
Just look at this Hitlerian wet dream

Most recent postings on social media are always throwbacks to old pics/competitions. He had initially said he was going to work on recovering and competing again, but I honestly think that's changed. He'd likely be pushing hard right now if he was hoping for a comeback this year or next year.
I like Dennis but think he lost too much to attempt any kind of comeback. Smart to be safe and not risk any other injury that could result in a more serious injury.Progressive overload + progressive eating = gains. Simple as that!

I think that's it for him. At this point and at his age, it's a high risk and he likely won't go back to his best form.. he has nothing to be ashamed of, besides his debut in 2006, the 2006 Mr. Olympia and the 2009 Mr. Olympia, placing at the 2009 Olympia, he hasn't been out of the top 6 at any show his whole career.

Well, I'll always remember him as one of the most exciting surprises to place top 5 in an Olympia(2007)
And also how he finally found his formula and got his crap together I think 2010 on after he bombed in 2009 with the cookies.
Calves, arms, hamstrings & abs were his weaknesses.
Chest, shoulders, clavicles, upper back, and quads were his strengths and especially in 2006 his crab mm was maybe top 20 ever.
Something about those Germans because Ruhl had a better one and a argument could be made for Rocker as well.
He also came at a time when there were just about no aesthetic tall bodybuilders and absolutely none with aesthetics and overpowering mass. Tony Freeman was amazing during those days but he wasnt overwhelming anyone with mass.
In 2007 he became famous but in 2006 here on the boards we were making fun of him as Jay Cutlers little twin because he had the EXACT same haircut and really did look like Jay, but without the physique, he was deep in the callouts. His face even looked slightly like Jays. He didn't seem to get that sunbaked goblin face until 2007 or 2008.
We also tripped out in 2007 when we realized he sounded almost identical to Arnold.
He was a force to be reckoned with and we never wrote him off from being able to win an Olympia until that calf came off the bone. He will be missed.

He was saying in the video about his injury that he hopes he could return. He stated later in the video that he still could not feel certain things and he was unable to make his arms do certain ROMs. In other words had he been 85-100% after surgery, he probably would have started training hard and growing. But he was not at anything near that. Due to the injury type he was lucky to be moving correctly. It can take up to 12-18 months for the nerves to start coming back after a surgery like his. At his age I have to think he probably won't return to the stage. Plus, while the surgery went well from what he said and all reports I have seen. To get back to the level he was, including the gear and amount of weight needed. He could be risking another injury to his neck. Again while he said it was a good surgery, the stress on the area due to multiple types of angles and weight could easily lead to injury for anyone let alone a pro BBer.
Recall in the video he was workingout with pretty light weight and he was struggling and had to stop. That's due to the nerves not being healthy yet. With his age and wife probably wanting kids...I really don't think he will do any show again (any type natural, classic and ect). He might just end up doing broadcasting for shows. Like Jay, he lives in Los Vegas so you never know.
