    Question Eating after a workout

Now yes I know meal timing isn't important as long as you hit your macros but I keep thinking of how many people in the gym have said to eat or take a shake 30 mins after a workout. So my question is does it matter if I eat right after a workout or an hr after?

    Thanks,
    Elliott

I think most everyone around here agrees that unless you're training after an overnight fast, then your preworkout meal is still digesting as you train and after you finish. So it probably won't make or break your gains if you wait such a short time such as an hour.

    ^^^that

and I personally train after an overnight fast, and i've gone a full 12 hours after working out (about 30 hrs total fasted) and didnt see any real harm.

Like tomorrow, i've got a test I need to cram for as well as get my workout in (helps me focus), so i'll be about 20hrs fasted. Hit your macros day in and day out and you've got nothing to worry about (for the most part)

It doesn't make a difference, but if you feel better eating afterwards, do it.

Do what makes you feel better... I used to train 5am then not eat till 10, then I moved to not eating till 4pm..

Also I've tried a shake, then meal at 10am

But I actually feel best throughout the day if I still train at 5am (fasted) then have a small meal about 30 minutes later, then don't really eat till 5pm after that...

At the end of the day, it won't make much difference just try a few things, and see how u respond, not just froma body composition level, but also a mental level and gut health level...

I usually break my fast somewhere between 30 mins and 2 hours after my training sessions (only lifting 3x a week atm) usually closer to 1 hour.
