Misc Penny Trader Stock Thread!

Dumped TVIX at 2.89 earlier when SPY made a new low and TVIX did not make a new high. I don't like divergence. Pretty good trade good for $4230, but the volatility just wasn't keeping up. Tough thing with buying volatility is if you get a slow grind down, even though you'd think volatility should follow, it does not always. When this happens you get screwed. I will look to re-enter, but as I said 164 was a support level for SPY. I still think market should move lower but 5 point drop in a short period is nice so I can't complain.

Yeah it really depends on your personality. Some people will buy a stock even after a big move because either A. they are foolish and clueless, or B. they are planning to hold long term so they don't care if it pulls back, because they think its moving a lot higher. I personally don't want to get into something knowing quite certainly that I am going to be down 25% before I'm positive on the trade. Drawdowns are a part of trading and it's very hard to just buy and have something go straight up without you ever being down but risk management is imperative because you never know when that 25% pull back instead turns into 50 or 60% and then you sh*t yourself, get scared and take a loss only to see the stock move higher right after.

Was looking to pick some up yesterday for a nice 7% gain this morning but didnt pull the trigger. Good profit brah

same thing happened to me today as happened to me on GMEC last week. I leave for a meeting with a limit order to lock profits, come back an hr later and the stock is up 40%+ and my limit hit...TDEY .002s up now

i have a noob question regarding capital gain taxes.

theoretically. if u buy shares of a stock for $10,000 then a month later sell the shares for $15,000 with a net profit of 5,000...

one day later u buy shares of another stock spending the whole $15,000 that you just got from the sale.

say 2 months later u the 15,000 worth of the stock drops down to $5,000, do you still have to pay capital gains tax on the on the profits from the first sale even though overall you are down $5,000. I guess what im getting at is when are gains turned from unrealized to realized? at the time of sale, or when you withdraw money from your brokerage into your bank account?

you pay taxes on realized gains.... so you would pay for them on the intial 5000 if you did not sell the second position. If you sold the second position at a -5000 loss, then it would equal out and you wouldnt owe any taxes. I only learned this through trial and error lol.

The US government controls FNMA. It's not going anywhere near that until they get out of the governments control. They lost billions of dollars.

This. I think it can run above $2 in the short term after correction. But unless this is allowed to iPo released from
Conservatorship it's not going to see former glory.

Got in with a small position mid day in the 82-86s. Sold all but 30k EOD from .110-.129. Gonna try to pop off the last bit if we run up in the morning. I imagine it'll crash here soon. Tomorrow will be 3rd day to run if it does.

DEWM had a nice green day. Keeping it on watch next few days.
