Anyone own a belt made by them? What's your opinion on it? Seems like a pretty awesome place to get a custom belt (made in Murika too!) and was thinking of ordering one for a December meet.

Yes, they are the best belt you can buy for the past several decades. True single run of full grain leather with high quality threading thats not skimped on, high quality stainless steal buckle (good luck finding a seam on the roller its so smooth), high grade rivets, high quality glue, and all hand finished. You will not find a better belt. He started the 4" power belt working with Bill "Peanuts" West. The "Wide" belt was considered advanced equipment back then. Louie Simmons still has and uses his Bob's Belt.

from 2005 WSBB article
In the 19 71 Junior Nationals I broke the squat record with 565, breaking the mark held by Tony Fratto, who was a huge influence in my squatting. Its funny how although you are competing against these great lifters, they were also great men, as they were the pioneers of this great sport. I trained by myself until I saw Doug Heath at Ohio State University. He was strong as hell, but really eccentric, to say the least. He had many great contests with Ron Mercer of Glass City Power Team, in Toledo. Doug is still strong today, making top 10 lifts. After my back injury, it took me a few years to reach top form again. Spanjian supersuits came on the scene. They did not do much, but I was glad to have some support. I recall that they cost $24.00. Bob's Belts supplied a 4 inch power belt, which I still use today. My Training Journal: http://tinyurl.com/jasons-journal

I've got their original as well as their deadlift belt. It seems like it took 3-4 weeks to get the original belt, but it took forever when I ordered the deadlift belt. I was actually at the point of cancelling my order, but they had shipped it the day prior. I like the belts, but in this day and age, that's a long wait. Another funny gripe about them is that you get a free shirt that any grammar nazi would disprove of. I don't have enough posts to embed or link, but it proudly says "Bob's Belt's".

But in this day and age most belts you get quickly are crap. Cheap leather, cheap suede, cheap composite materials, cheap glue, etc etc. They are prefab cut and quickly slapped together. Closest belt that I've found you can get that's closest to the quality of a bobs is an Inzer forever. Anything but black takes a while for those too because they already have a lot of black ones on premise sitting on a shelf.
