Hey guys am I crazy or are there nursing bridge programs if you already have a bachelors degree?

I was a fire fighter/emt for 9 years and kind of miss the action/intellect and considering going into ER nursing. What would my options be, and would this be a decent fit at all?

    Thanks

There are all sorts of bridge programs out there. Why did you give up firefighting?

Also, I work with two OR nurses that are also firefighters, it's pretty common.

Got burned out on the politics.

Worked some outside jobs a while after that, and working outside utterly blows for 12hrs a day. Wondering if ER nursing is at all legit/fun.

Did travel in ER for 1 year, great pay but got offered a gig in Cath lab and jumped on it. Brb 4x10hrs, no more mid shifts/nights, nor full weekends, only take call 1 weekend a month.

Best of all, I'm literally 1.5 miles from the hospital so I have a 5-6 min commute.

    Colorado.
Sent my transcipts to UCCS and they said that because most of my classes are over 10 years old things like chemistry wont transfer...wtf!? Also among other bs classes, I needed two 'writing intensive' classes - ironic given I've been working as an author the last year.

Nice brah. You worried about the radiation at all? I do a decent number of vascular cases in the cath lab and the OR and it's wild how much those guys shoot. You rocking lead eye glasses? I'm thinking about getting a pair.

Oh yeah, all the time. Constant use of radiation. I have been zapped a couple times without lead. I always try to keep it on and always turn off the foot switch after each case.

3rd day in the ICU and i nearly killed my pt lulz. Vasopressin and levo was infusing and i decided to pause the IV pump so i could add on another 3 way valve. after a min (bc i forgot to prime the valve with saline after attaching it), his MAP slowly dropped before my eyes...60, 59, 57, 56, 54. I haven't had a scare like this in a while lol

i would do study groups. I am a very strong auditory learner and remember via conversation(if my ADD is not interfering). it would really vary on the time.

Question, has anyone ever transferred a nursing license by endorsement to Florida? I gave them my application and the countless things that went with it, and that was over a month ago. They haven't opened up my application, or even informed me of anything. Cant work here without my license.. its kinda fukd. How long does this chit usually take?

Can someone aware me how hard it is to eventually become a flight nurse? Miss the action of fire fighting and considering that final destination.

You need solid critical care/ER experience. It's a cool job for sure, I went on a ride-along when I was an ICU nurse and I still interact with these guys when they come to pick up patients in the ED or the OR.

I have tons of respect for flight nurses - the money isn't as good as it should be and there is real danger ("you fly, you die") but those guys are saving lives.

If I didn't get into anesthesia school, I was going to go into flight nursing. Good luck.

It's all totally regional, in Cali, many RNs are paid 100k+. Here in Boston, experienced RNs also make 100kish. But, there are places in the country where the pay is half.

Flight nurses in and around Boston make 80-90k. Good money, but a tough job for sure.
