how do I get good Healthcare Experience? Im a freshman nursing major currently, and I want to set myself apart from other students b/c my university only accepts 100 students each class.
Can I work at hospitals/clinics without having ang special certifications like CNA, etc? Im going full time to school rn so I dont think I could have the time to do this mini-programs but idk yet. My father is a PA but I cant shadow him since I go to college 4 hours away.
Any ways to get hce??

after your first year of your nursing major (fundamentals) hospitals i think may accept you to become a CNA. Becoming a CNA and getting your foot in the door is something a lot of students do in order to get hired straight into the hospital after graduation. i consider it a huge advantage over another student that isn't working/working a different job

This, all hospitals in my location need CNA's, and as a nursing student you don't need to get your certificate. So far I've heard of a few girls in my class who got hired right away. May do it myself. Also do some volunteer work in your community, better yet at a hospital.

How hard is the TEAS V? srs. I'm going to take it in like a year, but I was thinking I would buy the study guide package from ATI's website now and study during the 2 week winter break that's coming up. The only thing is I read that you can only take the two online practice tests like twice so fuk I wouldn't really be able to use them right now. How long did you guys practice/study for and what did you use? Thanks.

Wtf, where have you been all this time? Mirin Congrats. What kind of ICU were you in?
edit: How was your interview? I'm in an ICU now, but I don't even know where to begin to start learning things. I remember that rabbit and sticklegs told me to start working on my vasoactive gtts.
edit2: How many times have you applied/got denied for/from an anesthesia program?Last edited by guyman123; 12-03-2015 at 01:52 PM.

I'm in the surgical ICU. Nurse anesthesia schools prefer ICU experience in level 1 trauma centers, so if you got that you'll be ahead of other candidates. The schools I interviewed at asked mostly personal questions. Why anesthesia? Why this school? Only one ask clinical questions. #1 Know your hemodynamics and vasopressors. And then get your CCRN.

Planning to apply to the T/SICU after a year or so here in the MSICU, although there have been three people on my unit that I know of that have been accepted to anesthesia. How specific did they get in regards to hemodynamics/pressors? Did you actually have to describe MoAs/instances when you were in deep chit? Did you just decide to apply as of recently or have you been applying over the past couple years?

I have 2 years of SICU exp and this is the first year I applied. If 3 people have gotten in from your unit, stay there unless you really want the STICU exp. As for pressors, they wanted me to know what receptors are affected and which ones you would use in certain situations. There's lots of information on the interviews at http://www.nurse-anesthesia.org/. Each school's interview is different. You can PM me with more questions if you like.

Buy the study package and just study that. The practice test give you a good feel how the test will be and honestly I scored around 70% on each of the practice test, which was not good enough for my University Nursing Program. However, when it came to the the actual Teas Test, I got an 86% on my first attempt. It took me about two weeks to read the whole book.
