I get a lot in the peds world, from kids and parents, and I'm starting to get all the photo christmas cards from kids I've taken care of. I've only been in peds 10 months. I have a few from the adult world, but not anything like peds- and I've worked in adult pt care for like 8-9 years. Womp womp

Haha, I didn't realize this kind of thing actually happened in hospitals too. It seems to me people are willing to wait hours in a waiting room for their doctor to visit with them for 5 minutes and to write them a prescription, but the second they hand me a script in the local pharmacy they set their watch timer and by god it better be ready in 5 minutes or else they get huffy and lose their minds.
Or even more fun when the people who are hooked on their meds know that they are out of refills so they phone us and give us the prescription number and we ask are there any more refills on this prescription? and they say "Yes, it should have a couple more left on it." and then we say ok then we will get it ready for you!
Then they show up and are astonished when we tell them we don't have any medications ready for them because they were out of refills. So they play the game "but he said on the phone that they would fill it for me" and being in a retail setting somehow the customer is always right still so apologies are always given even though its not our fault and they still get angry about it. Then they try every trick in the book to try and get some.
"Well since this is your screw up can you at least give me 1 for the day?"
"But I am about to go on vacation"
"That isn't what my doctor told me"
Don't even get me started on the people who come into the store and the stories about who they are picking up the diabetic syringes for LOL.337 crew

How difficult is the ONC? I'm studying for my CCRN now.
I've been talking to a recruiter about some travel jobs the past few days. My bf and I split, and I'm looking to get out of this town, asap. Found a pretty nice one in Cleveland that pays extremely well that I'm very underqualified for, fingers crossed.
I have the basics; ACLS, BLS, PALS and my TNCC, EPPCO, and some CRRT certs... other than my CCRN, do you all have any suggestions of certs I can get to make me mo re marketable?BFing mom. Pediatric ICU Nurse. Farm girl stuck in the Sin City. BJJ Purple belt.

Getting my ACLS soon. Any other certs you guys think I should get before I graduate to help me land my first RN job? Or any tips in general for things I can do before graduation? Starting my last semester and want to get hired as an RN asap and not at the hospital I currently work for.

What experience do you need to put acls to use? In fact as an aide ive assisted with plenty of codes and have seen pts crashing and got help immediately. It teaches you what to do in code situations and how to identify a code. I paid less than $100 with book included for it so its really cheap. An ICU nurse manager suggested it would look good on a resume/ put you ahead of other students. It also saves the hospital money.
But you guys are right about spending my own money but fuk it with the new grad.market right now I'll do everything to put me ahead.
Gorbeth: tried already but too close to graduation keep getting denied. Currently work on cardiac ICU/ stepdown though so I will have experience just not foot in door where I want to work.-Miscs from phone 99% of time.

Market is saturated almost everywhere besides places that are in the middle of no where or just rural areas in general. Midwest is your best bet in terms of pharmacy jobs (correct me if i'm wrong). Pay as a pharmacist is fantastic of course. A friend of mine just got an offer from one of the largest retail chains right out of pharm school. no experience in pharmacy whatsoever. 120k. Family member is also working as a pharmacist for one of the big chains and is making 140k. Has about 6 years experience
