    Moving Off to College: Whey or Mass Gainer?

    I will be moving into an apartment for college in the next couple of days. I am currently bulking. But, I am afraid that I will not get the needed calories/nutrition that I need to progress.

    I will be having a meal plan that allows me 6 meals a week. I will also be going grocery shopping maybe every other week if I'm lucky.

    I have been using ON 100% WHEY until recently I ran out and did not have any money at the time to buy more. So a friend of mine gave me his cheap whey mass gainer that he bought at wal-mart. I said "what the hell" to myself and gave it a shot.

    The mass gainer pushed me up over my hump of weight at 170 and into 174 in 2 weeks. I felt i gained good weight and not ****ty fat/water weight.

    So I was wondering what others opinions would be on using mass gainer instead of just whey if you are not confident enough that you will meet your calorie intake to gain mass. And if so, what mass gainers would you recommend?

    Just go out and buy food. Take some whey for days you may fall short on protein.

    Dude just get whey, if you need more protein use 2 scoops instead of 1. The mass gainer didn't get you over any hump, eating more did, and 4 pounds in 2 weeks is fat. Just get a good quality brand so you know what you're getting, I'm not trusting Walmart brands.

    I prefer De Novo Nutrition, SciVation, and Optimum Nutrition brands.

    People need to stop the "real food" vs "whey" bro science crap, whey has a better amino profile and is much cheaper. For a college student with limited cooking and storing options, whey is clearly the most nutritious and most convenient option.

    Buy generic cheap ass whey, it's cheaper than crappy weight gainers regarding protein (the purpose of a protein supplement) then buy cheap bulk oats/pb and mix with the whey to make a better "weight gainer"

    I'd probably up the meal plan, or at least take full advantage of the meals you do get there. Easy to take in 1500 cals or so from a College Dinning hall meal. I personally prefer taking in solid food as Weight Gainers and protien seem much less satisfying. It is all the same however you want to make up your calorie total for bulking powder food and solid food both do the trick.
