Ask a guy who has to think about his tongue to use his face anything(pics)

-Had a bad accident, among other issues, got paralyzed on right side of my face(could't blink eye right on that side either)
-about 9 months after accident and surgeries for other issues, docs decided my facial nerve wasn't going to recover
-Doc's decided to cut the nerve going to the right side of my tongue, move it up to my face, attach to my facial nerve(about 6 months ago)
-takes 6 months for nerve to grow to know if it worked or not
-they also put a gold weight in my eyelid so I could close my eye
-It has worked, I started being able to use my face better a couple a weeks ago and its getting better every day!!!
-I have to think about my tongue for my face to work, do therapy in a mirror everyday till i retrain my face
-when I see food, instead of making saliva on the right side of my mouth, the right side of my face sweats- they put a piece of pigskin inbetween my nerves and sweat glands to help stop that some
-when I eat, my face jumps up and down some(until I learn not to let this happen)

no I cant taste anything with my face, no taste buds there, I can still use the left side of my tongue though

Last year fell from a 2 story building, landed head first on concrete
-got helicoptered to hospital
-had a craniotomy to let my brain swell outside my head
-broke both feet
-paralyzed on right side of face, lost hearing in right ear
-had to have the fluid drained from my spine for a few days cause i was leaking brain fluid out of my ear
-later got a surgery cutting the nerve going to the right side of my tongue, moving it to my face- now I think about my tongue for my face to work
-have a electric spine simulator implanted my spine to send electric currents down my legs to counter act the pain
-back at work- Did squats and deadlifts today then ran 5 miles
-all blood in below pic was from my head

Is a full recover (full retraining of your facial muscles or something like that) possible?

Sorry to hear about your struggles, OP, but very happy to hear how much you've progressed. Unfathomable props to you for not only hanging in there, but taking initiative when life gave you a rather difficult hand. As far as I'm concerned, you're as alpha as they come.

the spine problems have affected my lifting more. I had to lay off for months. I'm back at it now. The face does look weird as fuk when I lift. And as far as a full recovery, no it will never fully recover. What it already has if fine with me though.
