i just try to be like the gawd northerntourist, pretending i am some great finder of vintage iron when really im just blessed by the geographic area i reside in which is just based on a high population and close proximity to york pa, new york ny, and new jersey (high pop = more who bought the vintage iron from where it was produced, so more i can sucker into pretending to feel grateful too for selling to me when really im not gonna use it, just pretend im amazing at finding it and selling to forum members for an amazing price while i pretend my welds are better than v2 of titan fitness items). If that doesnt work im amazing at getting my buddies together to troll legitmate forum members and contributers, and then feel confused as to why no one posts here anymore ������

Its not recommended to drop any dumbbell, new or vintage.

I think only ironmaster warranties their dumbbells against drops. The only one i am aware of

I baby my ironmasters, just wondering about the vintage nature of dumbbells as it does contain hand touchpoints unlike vintage olympic plates where it's more of a weight is weight discussion.

We have all seen lots of bent vintage dumbbells. Or bells with loose heads. Its all too common. I wouldn't call them more delicate than new ones just harder to replace.

Picked up my 75 globe and 45 buns. Thanks to Al for grabbing the buns for me .

If all my globes had this patina i wouldnt have painted. Oh well. Black looks good too!

Got to post my 2 cents. Northernmoris is to dam fast. Most of the time I find a lead they say I have someone coming over from NJ to take a look. I can guess who that is. It's not about location its about dedication.

Put them in a shop press and press the curve out till its straight. Not much to it.

What did I get that you wanted?

Take the 2 roundheads and lay them side by side. Take the bent one and place the highest point of the bend at the top making contact with the 2x4. Then I take a 100lb plate or something similarly heavy and drop it onto the bent handle at various heights until its straight. Ive done it many times.

Some advocate using a press to push the handle into place. I don't have a press and have had little luck pushing or pounding on the handle to straighten DBs.

But I have straightened 55 and less Roundheads by hand. Dumbbells are bent because some dufus tossed the DB on the floor after lifting. So I reverse the process by hitting the DB on the opposite side.

I take two dumbbells, one in each hand, and swing them so that the bells hit each other. Think of a lateral raise with the dumbbells extending out to your sides. Then pull the DBs down so they hit each other.

I figure out where the bell needs to be pushed in so it is straight. Typically, it is the edge of the side of the bell that sticks out further than the other side. I then aim the center of the other dumbbell so it hits that spot. The other bell is a heavy hammer hitting the bent DB to straighten the head. Three or four hits at that spot typically will straighten the DB.

Thats definitely an interesting technique but I'd cringe banging my dumbbells against each other.
