You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

I just picked this FID up from a hipster in DC. He linked to a cheaper model Powerline and had it listed for $100 OBO. But the picture was of the Body Solid GFID225, I could tell by the oval tubing. This is the EXACT same model I've been eyeballing on Amazon for the past month. I only need a light foldable FID for dumbbell work that i can stash away to move a car in the garage.

Well, I raced over there and confirmed it was the 225 & gave him $100. I didn't even try to haggle, lol. I just got an essentially new $265 FID for $100, STOKED!

Not sure, I just got those and a newer pair yesterday from Atty's friend. I was really fired up about that purchase as well! Now I can curl in the squat stand..

Ps, also a nice score on the BS dip. I have no idea why they are so expensive new. I got a pretty sweet parabody dip station for $20. (Also from someone who was moving cross country.)

I have the yokes, but missing the inner rods. I have decided to turn these into sweet York chalk stands. (Was testing if the dowel rod fit in there)

Picked up yet another hammer bench today. The pads on the other 2 were just too wide for my liking. This one is an inch narrower so it may work out. It is insanely heavy. The rod system connects to a track that is on some Hammer racks. I'll probably remove that just to lighten up the weight and maybe make a custom handle for the front

I would say the majority is craigslist or kijiji. Probably 90% of what I buy comes from craigslist. Occasionally I find good auctions or things on ebay. I haven't had a ton of luck on ebay but I also haven't given it a huge chance so it could be a jackpot. Be patient and be diligent with your searches every day. I use craigslist pro to track Ohio and some surrounding cities.

Be patient. I would expand my search zone from Windsor to Montreal. Be patient. Expand your "want to find" list. Be patient. Pick up items as they become available at an acceptable price.

CL mostly. Usually don't get good stuff here in north florida but lately I've had some luck.

I see. How does 230LB rubber coated olympic weights for $115 sound to you? Should I take it?

    Thanks,

Considering 50/lb is the going rate for regular uncoated plates, that sounds pretty good. Better check and make sure it's not some Why-durrr garbage before making a drive.

Like most of you, I hate weider with a passion, but their color rubber plates are not bad. (Full rubber, not the rubber strip around the edge) The grip holes are comfy and nice for hanging on dip belts. Non-smelly rubber too.

I have been looking for this bench locally but I never have any luck. Instead of removing the rod system why not just add the track to your power rack? It is an extremely basic design I am just you could replicate, then you would have a locking bench.

Don't remove the Dock 'n Lock - sell me the bench. Seriously. I have the rack this goes to.

Looking on craigslist for 3 weeks is like hoping you get a date with Olivia Munn the first time you ask. It could happen, but chances are slim. Persistence is key. If it's a specific piece you're looking for, give it 6months-1 year of checking daily, or having an app that will alert you to keywords. If it's general stuff like good weights at a reasonable price, 3-6 months should do it. Good luck!

EDIT: This post needs some visuals. Here you go
