Not to be a dick, but the people who get on their high horse about 'drugs are cheating' are almost universally really **** lifters.

The kind that clean and jerk 128@94 as career bests, become refs, then lecture people on proper jerk technique.

    You know I'm right.

Did I hit a little close to the truth?

I'm sorry, but just look at the numbers of every person getting their panties in a knot about the reality of elite level sports.

It's like when people bitch about sumo deadlifts, they almost universally never pull more than 5 plates. Like ever.

There's **** only weak people say, because it's part of the internal thought process that keeps them week and happy with their ****ty 1kg competition pb.

    Boo hoo.

There's no correlation between wealth and doping. In fact, if anything, there's an inverse correlation. Poorer nations tend to dope more than rich ones. Look at North Korea.

But that's an aside. The real point is that drugs change the sport. We have to think about things like, is Ilyin the best because he's the best lifter, or is it because his doping program is the best? Or is it some combination? Without the drug element, you don't have those questions. It's all about lifting, and nothing else.

    Long time dude.

Yes, I'm alive. Crossed over to the less cool sport last May after I realised a) I sucked at weightlifting and b) I would be much better at powerlifting.

America dopes as much if not more than all other countries in other sports though, and they are better at it. See track and field athletes lol. If there's no correlation between wealth and doping then inherently it's a level playing field when doping is involved.

Ilya is the best because he is the best. You just said poor nations dope more than rich ones so f.x. that hairy Georgian Gia probably dopes just as much as Ilya yet can't even close to outlift him in a weight class above him. There must be more than drugs going on and Ilya is a crazy athlete.

Again I'm just guessing Georgia and Kaz have access to the same kinds of roids.

You can't look at these guys and disregard individual talent because of drugs, that's absurd.

What I don't understand is why the US produces no one who gets even close to international podiums in O-lifting, but there are other Westernized countries that are not ex-Soviet and do not have Soviet-style sporting machines and ostensibly, weightlifting is not particularly popular or well known in these countries, but they still assemble good squads or at least a few medal winners. South Korea is the best example. Another example is Germany. France too has guys like Hennequin and Dabaya. These countries may not have armies of 77's in reserve who can C+J 200+ like China. But they do have a few guys at least who can bring home some medals at WWCs and Olympics.

inb4 all three got fuked in London. They all had absolutely horrible luck in this competition.

Eh, Farris is about on par with Hennequin, just really inconsistent on the platform; rarely gets around his pr snatch of 160 and almost always misses third attempt jerks like he did with his 208 in london.

full body wax is about 40$ and will last about a month

then save up for lazers but that can get very expensive especially for really hairy people yet wax would be fine for summer seasons

Yeah, Hennequin/France was probably the worst of the examples. Still, he has a WWC medal, and Kendrick does not. The US sent Krych to Paris. Krych is awesome, no doubt. The way he recovered from having both his wrists bent in half is godlike...but he came 25th. I guess really what I'm intrigued by is why France, Germany and South Korea can get medals and the US cannot.

It's like when people bitch about sumo deadlifts, they almost universally never pull more than 5 plates. Like ever.

There's **** only weak people say, because it's part of the internal thought process that keeps them week and happy with their ****ty 1kg competition pb.

    Boo hoo.

Really? Sumo or a coan-style semi-sumo is easier for me.

depends on the person, sumo is easier for some, but not all

I think feet to the plates is kinda lame, but it doesn't really bother me. Same with low bar barely parallel squats, kinda lame, but idgaf really.
