So its impossible to gain muscle and no fat?

So i have been readin around, and everyone has basically said. You will gain fat if your building muscle.
Thats depressing as hell because i just wasited 5 months trying to lose my fat.. now i have, i have to put it back on so i can build muscle?

How to people have a six pack all year round then because form what i have read, everyone gets fat during winter and skinny during summer?

    LOL.

Bulking will eventually involve fat gain, but you don't have to get outright fat. You a) take it slow and b) start cutting before you get outright fat.

I think part of the problem is that when people get very lean (single digits), they can get a little unrealistic on what is/is not "fat". Their abs get a little blurry, they can no longer see their spleen, whatever, they think they are now fat pigs when they are like 11% BF.

Then there are those who think bulking requires a 1000kcal/day surplus, and are suprised when they need new pants in a couple weeks.

Putting on fat does not mean getting fat. Say some guy 180 pounds and 10% nd decides to bulk. He has 18 pounds of fat now. Say he adds weight at a fairly bad ratio of 1:1. So 1 pound of fat for every pound of muscle. He gains 20 pounds so that puts him at 200 with 28 pounds of fat. That is now 14% bf. Not really fat. Maybe he decides to be a bit cleaner and adds 0.5 fat for 1 pound muscle and now at 200 he has about 24.6 pounds of fat or a little over 12%. Basically you just cycle cutting and bulking. You can start cutting before you lose your abs if you wish though some people chose to bulk past that and just cut more.

If you want to avoid gaining fat.... lift hard, keep your diet dialed in perfectly and don't gain weight quickly....

    Your 21...5'11" and 158lbs...

Maybe set a goal of 178 a year from now... yes... less than 2 lbs per MONTH! Lift heavy...

You'll be happy with the results.
A diet isn't punishment. A diet is a way to reward your body with the wholesome, nutritious food that it needs. Your body composition is a direct reflection of what you put in your mouth.

Yeah, I think this is exactly it. People seem to only think about stuff like this in terms of extremes, as if being fat vs ripped are night and day. There's a continuum here and everyone needs to find a comfortable spot on it.

Body dysmorphia aside, cut until you like what you see, bulk until you don't.

I was wondering about this too. Let's say I end my cut at 175 lbs and 15% bf. I then bulk at a 300 cal surplus for 280 days. That will put me at 199 lbs, but how much of that +24 lbs would be fat? Best estimate.
Where I want to be: 220 lbs 10% bodyfat

That's like asking if it's possible for people to read the stickies or do a quick search before they make a thread.
