Look closely guys, he said FREE WEIGHTS are better.

Let me translate that so you people will understand:
Oh snap, you be talkin all the shiznit bout 50 cent all up in the bodybuilding house *****s, ya'll best back up into the misc section befo I pull my gat on yo bitch asses. I be tearing 50 cent up any day yo, i'll bite that *****'s arm off wit my platinum teef bling bling." - Tom Swanson

Bodyweight exercises won't make you grow? Yes they DO! Chin ups will work wonders for your back and biceps. Handstand pushups are really good for your shoulders. Don't get me wrong I am a fan of heavy weights but bodyweight exercises do work if you give them your all.
If you want to build more muscle you have to move more weight. Even if you increase the number of pushups you are not moving more weight you're just moving the same weight more. There is no need to build more muscle the muscle only needs to work more efficiently. If you were able to triple the number of pushups you could do from 100 to 300 I wouldn't argue that you might add a little bit a muscle. But how much muscle would you have added if you tripled your bench press from 100 to 300.

Good bodyweight exercises:
- Dips
- Chins
Aside from that, get some free weights. Bodyweight squats and pushups won't help you too much. And unless you have an easy way to add weight to pushups that's a bust. Adding weight to squats? Well we call that squatting.
And AzBadass, you aren't impressing anyone, just making yourself look like a jackass. Quick! You aren't back-pedalling fast enough!

Maybe this will help you understand my situation: I find, that most times, ridicule and public slandering catch most people's attention faster than just plain ol', straightforward advice. At least this way, somebody might learn something, instead of sitting around not knowing what in the hell to do about anything.Quote of the year (2003):

Oh man. What makes you think that I aim to impress ANYONE on this board? Half of these kids are whining about **** like "my mommy says supplements are bad" and, "lifting will stunt my growth". Why would I waste my time to impress a sorry bunch of sniveling babies that don't have the balls enough to make a decision for themselves?

Also, if you would notice, I DO offer my opinions in a calm and collected manner. I only humiliate someone unless they have taken a shot at me, or are a complete idiot. My aim is to help these kids, that is my reason for being on this board.

Poppa Pump, let me correct that statement. What I meant to say was: "I find that ridicule and public slandering catch most COMPLETE IDIOTS' attention faster than just plain ol' straightforward advice." Yes, I know that statement is not politically correct ect. But if you look at people as a whole, most are idiots. I am glad that you asked, and that I was able to clear things up.
And as for Big Traps: Dems some titties.Quote of the year (2003):

OK, ON TOPIC NOW: The only bodyweight exercises I find to be worthwhile are: Chins, dips, inverted crunches, and handstand pushups. Anything else, and you are definately going to need some weight. Hell, get good at those that I listed, and you are going to need some weight.

I wasn't attacking Big Traps. I was however, commenting on the picture that he posted of the kid with the titties.

bump...i love hypers...that and dips are the only bodyweight workouts i do...and i use hammer strength dips a lot, because i can't bang out enough dips with good enough form to really do anything positive at the moment. Peace
