Meh, he's a first rate douchebag. So long as he stays North of the MD line I don't care what he does anymore. I did appreciate the end of the article regarding his earlier comment about the police going on strike: "In fact in New York they can't go on strike--there's a law against it." Hamstrung by your own laws, ain't life a bitch?

That statement alone would show that he truly doesn't care about people.
John 3:16-17 (KJV) 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Romans 12:2 (KJV) 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

What's with this country's habit of taking one completely off the charts event, perpetrated by a lunatic, and trying to derive from it rules to mandate on the non-lunatic population?

Bloomberg is/was a super smart guy. He was an elite student and made billions through his own initiative. No one handed the guy a nickel. Yet, he seems to believe in things that are more than a little crazy. Not Unibomber crazy, but talking to himself crazy. The guy has to swab the rumps of the NYPD every day to keep his job. Yet, he thinks they are in real danger of criminals with guns. The fact is, the cops kill more people with guns than the other way around. More of the city's trashmen are killed each year than their policemen.
It just goes to show that anyone can fall into the grip of mania. He spends his days surrounded by armed men and naturally fears the world. So much so he is convinced it is filled with armed lunatics slaughtering people by the boatload. When not dodging bullets, people are dying from bacon, fries and 16 oz beverages.

Want a pistol permit in NY? Be prepared to jump through more that 1 flaming hoop. Shotguns and rifles are available without the permit, but there's a waiting period.
We have gun buy-backs out in Nassau County, maybe 2X a year. People walk in with handguns and whatever and surrender them for $250-300 per. And there is a line around the buildings every time they hold one, of course the place and a 3-block perimeter around it is wall to wall in plainclothes cops. The idea is to thwart people who will give $400 for a nice Glock before they make it to the buy-back site.

Warren vs D.C.
fundamental principle of American law that a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any individual citizen
If unaware you should **** bricks at the implications of that statement. He who lets the world, or his own portion of it, choose his plan of life for him, has no need of any other faculty than the ape-like one of imitation. He who chooses his plan for himself, employs all his faculties. He must use observation to see, reasoning and judgment to foresee, activity to gather materials for decision, discrimination to decide, and when he has decided, firmness and self-control to hold to his deliberate decision.

Exactly. These are such extremely infrequent events in terms of actions/per capita/per time that there is no practical to way to know where to begin or know if there is a beginning to eliminating it. But, practical analyses and effective policy is not what this is about, it's about providing fuel to those who have had long held desires to impose any degree of regulation they could get away with regardless of the actual efficacy of those policies to combat the things they claim they will.
Boy, I tell you, when such a small group of people can sure turn a lot of the self proclaimed intellectually superior for-the-people types into frothing at the mouth 5th graders I have to start thinking they must be doing something right. I was rather indifferent to the whole thing until I saw how pissed off they made the die-hard left and now I rather like them.2 + 2 = 5 (for extremely large values of 2)

Bloomberg is the typical example of why some people shouldn't be placed in positions of power, because it messes with their head. He's one of those people who thinks that since he has the power, he should exercise as much of it as possible. That is, since he has the power to outlaw stuff, he's going to outlaw as much as he can. Basically he thinks power is about making his views into laws, by which forcing others to abide by his views if they don't agree with them. I think the name for it is "power trip".

Lets See, I read somewhere, may have been one of those pushy Tea party kind who forced me to read it, can`t remember couldn`t couldn`t have been one of those flat earth no growth, I`m entitled, coexist, Ill take a dump Occupy kind, they have all this stuff from Marx & Engles, no this was different, it had something guranteeing the rights of law abiding citizens, all citizens, it was amazing, something to the effect of " A well regulated Militia, being NECESSARY to the security of a FREE STATE, the RIGHT of the People to keep & bear Arms, Shall not be infringed "! Darndest thing, made complete sense, almost Biblical to me----They even had these guys named Washington who said "Firearms stand next to the Constitution in importance"---or Thomas Paine "horrid mischief would ensue were the law abiding deprived of the use of them"--Patrick Henry "the Great object is that every man be armed"--Thomas Jefferson-" Those who hammer their guns into plowshares, will plow for those who do not"-"It is their right and duty to be armed"--------and a Whole host of other fellas, they all make sense to me in comparison to the moronic lot who babble incessantly on the Tube nowadays even that Guy with the Funny Name-----anyway they got all pissed off and threw some Tea into a Harbor on the East Coast somewhere and really got riled, maybe some Earl Grey got mixed in don`t really know--------These Tea Party guys got some stones, want independence for all Men, not to be ruled like serfs and chattel, with no accountability--------anyway, I picked up a 38 Ruger LCR the other day to go along with some other stuff---------Gotta find out more about these tea party type, have this one woman from Alaska pretty hot, at least compared to some of those occupyu types, like Hillary something and that little bowling pin setter Janet something---------------Oh Well have fun guys
