thought this video would be cool. shows the evolution and progression of what bodybuilders looked like and were about from the 1930's to today's most popular pros. also shows what was considered the most aesthetic back then and it's really interesting what the standards were like decades ago compared to today's standards.
"This video attempts to make a brief comparison of what the sport was like all the way back in the 1930's to today's time period. Bodybuilders are discussed and the physiques of the classic era are compared to today's modern bodybuilders. Tech usage wasn't used/abused as much decades ago as it is today. The introduction of the high amounts of HGH around the late 80's/90's is what has led to today's MASSIVE pro bodybuilder physiques. Advancements in the 1940's regarding AAS (anabolic androgenic steroids) came about which led to higher, stronger concentrations and better prices. This gave way to more popular usage in the 1950's and it is said that pretty much all the pros of the 50's were "on" in some way. Of course, it is impossible to know with 100% certainty who was on and who wasn't. Lots of bodybuilders shy away from admitting such and with good reason. These days, supplement companies and sponsors don't want an "admitted" steroid user. Makes sense, right? Less sales for the companies. That being said, enjoy the progression, growth, and evolution of bodybuilders from the 1930's to Today."
What are your thoughts about the evolution of Bodybuilding?
what do you guys think about the progression and evolution of bodybuilding? do you like the direction it's moving towards? in my opinion, it used to be based on more artistic, aesthetically judged properties. now it's a more scientific approach. what do you guys think?
edit:
2010 - Future:
"This video attempts to briefly shed light on some of the 'new age' and 'new school' bodybuilders that will have a big influence in the upcoming years. A lot of these guys are influencing the younger generation to get in shape and get into bodybuilding. Because of this, I feel the main focus of what is considered to be "aesthetic" and even typical for a "bodybuilder" is changing. While there most likely will always be a demand and audience for the HUGE pros who are 250lbs and more, I feel there is a strong change starting to take place among the younger generation. It would be naive and ignorant to not acknowledge it. Let's be real here, the huge pros can't get any bigger right? Or can they..? Maybe this is why mainstream bodybuilding is starting to reflect more of the "golden age" than ever before, where artistic greco-roman like physique attributes were valued more over size alone. Where do you think modern and new age bodybuilding is headed? Leave your comments and thoughts/below. I know I missed some people, I can't fit them all into the video. Shed some light on them by posting a comment."
