Other places around the world have great weather/scenery, but lack the power/security of the US and don't have the capitalism to keep all industries booming

Don't discount northern california.

Tons of nice wine towns and little beach towns all over california.


The worst of california is the most central or most heavily populated.

high cost of living isn't' any different than any other major metro area in the U.S.

you can find an apartment for $1300 a month with a roommate around Venice/Santa Monica area if you get off your ass and shop around.

Traffic is overrated. Once you learn the traffic patterns and/or move close to work then its effects are minimized.

Lived in NorCal (above Sac), spent time in other places in the country, lived in SD a few months every year, and now reside in the Pasadena area... i gotta stop you right there but LA/SD is the GOAT place to live. Weather is hhhnngggg all year round, wearing shorts and t shirt in January 65-75 degrees comfortable. Beaches, bitches, Hollywood clubs, rural areas in SGV area, hiking, fishing, Vegas is 4 hours away... the list goes on and on.

Edit: thing that surprised me most is the reasonable cost of living. I'm paying less down here near Pasadena than i was up in Chico lol. And i'm making more money. Go figure.

Seeing as LA and SD are so big, when people go out at night to party, how do they usually do it? Is traffic bad friday/sat nights in the city, where to park, hotels, etc.
