Trust me, it will repay them, even if little by little. Every person that thought about buying them, will rather think "yeah Imma get some Yorks... uhh York fitness? No, Protienand said they suck. Nope, not for me. Better get some York Barbell's. Yep. That's more like it."

So as promised, here is the weigh in for the Body Power Olympic Weight plates.
Bodypower oly plates.
Look how straight they sit on the rack.
I've talked these plates up a lot in the past so I was a bit apprehensive on how they would measure up. These plates are to my knowledge the only milled plates (bar Ivanko or eleiko) available in the UK. ...except they have now stop production of this style, which is a major shame. Heres why;
The pics above only show a few of my plates, and some may remember they were taken on the days I bought them. They took a period of a few weeks to aquuire from sets all around the country (I did a lot of driving).
The scales I'm using are nothing special. They are Salta (no idea which model), and only about a month or two old. I started of by making sure the arrow was on the zero, and then checked them against my calibrated eleiko fractional plates as they are the best I have. All was good. I continued to check the zero and calibration after every few plates.
I then started with the 20s (45s). I did 8 before I got bored. Out of the 8 they were all bang on the money, except for one which came in at 19kg. So I checked it a few more times, marked it up with a carpenters pencil and moved on.
The 15kgs were almost just as good with only 1 disscrepency out of the 4 plates. One was out by half a kg, but all the rest were exact.
10s and 5s were all good
I measured the 2.5s all in one go, and they were about quarter of a kg out. So I measured them individually and could not find the discrepency.

I did the same with the 1.25s only they were bang on the money.
Heres the hard copy of the results I achieved. I am very happy with them, I expected all the plates to be a little out, but in truth is was just the odd one. I just wish I could have weighed my york fitness plates, the results would have been comical.

Thanks man. Its a total of about 3 whole sets + about 8 extra 45s. This was one of the reasons I thought the consistancy would be all over the place.
I've wanted to weigh my plates for years, so this thread gave me a great excuse. Those plates were just a small sample so I'll have to weigh the rest some time soon. I'm on the lookout for another 19kg plate to match the one I have. That way I can just stick them on the inside of one of my pre loaded bars and forget about them.
I reckon one of the York Fitness plates will be about 8kgs under weight. brokenweight.jpgMy training log:

As promised, here is my set of Hampton plates:
It includes four 45s, two 35s, three 25s, seven 10s and one 2.5. Total weight is 397.5 lbs
Results for 45s:
1) 44.860 or -0.31% deviation
2) 46.500 or +3.33% deviation
3) 47.240 or +4.98% deviation
4) 44.280 or -1.60% deviation
Average weight: 45.720 or +1.60% average deviation, 2.56% true deviation
Now 35s
1) 36.240 or +3.54% deviation
2) 35.140 or +0.4% deviation
As I have only two 35lbs plates, I decided not to calculate averages.
Results for 25s
1) 25.040 or +0.16% deviation
2) 24.720 or -1.12% deviation
3) 25.280 or +1.12% deviation
Average weight: 25.013 or +0.05% average deviation, 0.8% true deviation
Now 10s
1) 9.720 or -2.8% deviation
2) 10.000 or 0% deviation
3) 10.120 or +1.2% deviation
4) 10.880 or +8.8% deviation
5) 9.960 or -0.4% deviation
6) 10.440 or +4.4% deviation
7) 9.820 or -1.8% deviation
Average weight: 10.134 or +1.34% average deviation, 2.74% true deviation
I have only one 2.5lbs plate in my Hampton set. It weighed 2.560 or +2.4% deviation.
That's it. As I said before, please, take the averages with a grain of salt as the sample size is too small.Last edited by Jetigen; 07-24-2012 at 04:45 PM.

As a cautionary note, I was short on 5s. I had two sets of my old Ivankos, but somehow during a move all of the 5s disappeared. I noticed I could've used a couple more 2.5s, as well. A short time later, and I score over 800 pounds of plates -- including plenty of 5s and 2.5s.
