Thanks guys, always nice to receive positive comments.
I think the rule number 1 is the mindset; motivation, dedication, persistence etc.
Whatever program you're doing and knowledge you have, if you have the above you will see good results. It will take much longer if you miss workout days, don't care about what you eat most of the time, party too much etc., you decide how fast you want to achieve your goals...
I always kept up with my workout schedule (it changed every couple months, done upper/lower body splits, chest/back/shoulders/arms/legs, and chest,bi/back,tri/legs,shoulders - staying in the 5-10 rep range, sometimes going very heavy just for testing my max)
I also always kept up with my diet plan - aiming for a minimum of 3000 calories per day, usually with 6 meals a day.
Could go like:
- Protein shake with oatmeal (2*1/3 cup), fruits, yogourt, milk in magic bullet (oatmeal doesn't give a great texture but who cares just drink it!)
- Egg sandwich with glass of 1% milk
- Post workout protein shake + fruit
- Spaghetti or whatever pasta with milk
- Chicken (in a salad or just like that with seasonning) with potato or slices of bread or rice, with glass of milk
- 3 peanut butter toast with milk
- some nuts, milk, and protein shake (before bed)
The milk helps me get over 3000 calories. If I was cutting (might do that after I gain 10 more pounds), then my plan is to cut most of the milk, increase amount of protein per meal, reduce carbs by a good amount. Perhaps I'll just be doing 3 meals a day - with protein shakes in-between - would be easy to keep up with too.
