I'm a Christian, but in no way hate atheists. I'm just curious why do you believe there is no God?
I've seen many posts asking why us Christians believe in God, or other religious believe.
But I'm curious why you believe what you do.
No hate.

Atheists on here don't "believe" in anything so exceptional without empiricism.
We aren't making a claim whether there is or is not a god.
What you are not understanding is that atheism is the concept of theism -- not gnosticism in regard to ontology.
Why not use the term gnostic adeist and see how many responses you get.

Humans are epic liars and manipulators.
Don't get set into one form, adapt it and build your own, and let it grow, be like water. Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend. - Bruce Lee

Well, to put it short from my experience with a varity of atheists. There are different reasons for atheism or agnosticism. I don't know one person who is agnostic or atheist that isn't truly happier.
Some people have hardships that make them turn away from God at young ages. Some simply never truly believe even though they practice the religion. Some people are multicultural and are split religiously and choose not to pick one. Some don't like what their religion represents or does.
Whatever the reason, the end result is a liberated state of mind that you're a free-thinker where you can actually rationalize existence on your own. Not all Atheists are free-thinkers.
When you grow up indoctrinated as a crutch, it is quite difficult to rationalize parts of society without God or that social construct(atheists can indoctrinate too). It is a long process to becoming a free-thinker, you're basically being reborn again. Some things you thought were so wrong, you will think they're so right, while other things that were so right are now so wrong.Last edited by PaulG; 06-29-2012 at 03:28 PM.

Atheism is described as more of a movement than a belief or lack thereof. It is more accurate I think to say anti-theism. Anti-theism doesn't believe in the supernatural because there is no substantiated evidence that indicates such a thing. There is actually perfectly validated scientific explanations for many claims in the bible and has even disproved many claims such as the age of the Earth/Universe. etc...

My belief or lack thereof is irrelevant. I accept the fact that no such thing as a god exists based on; a) an overwhelming lack of evidence and b) an overwhelming lack of logical coherence in any argument for god I have yet seen.
It's like I don't "believe" in the speed of light - I accept the speed given based on various levels of evidence."I am the master of my fate:I am the captain of my soul."

Grew up a christian, slowly lost faith over the years after seeing the world. There is zero evidence of a god so I came upon two possible conclusions
1. There is no god
2. If there is he's certainly not a benevolent all loving entity that cares about us. If we were created, the creator moved on a long time ago.Never criticize someone until you have walked a mile in their shoes. That way, when you do criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I would sit down and begin a discussion using thought and reason. I would show how we were given no evidence whatsoever to believe in a creator, if the evidence existed I would have no problem in changing my mind. I am a good person and if he just expected me follow some bull**** written 2000 years ago then how was I suppose to know it was the right religion to follow? why not Mohammed? Zeus? the decision would solely be based on what my parents beliefs were when I was a child.
I am sure he would laugh and say "ok get inside *******, you got me this time".
