Day Z bros, wtf?

So I'm watching some streams of the new Day Z craze and I have to say, what is the point of this?

I just watched a dude crawl around for 20 minutes then poke his head up into a window to check a barrack, then crawl 10 minutes to a bush.

A zombie saw him so he 1 shot it in the head, "looted" it, then crawled into the woods again.

Is it just me or is this the most boring thing ever made? Can't make any noise, can't be seen, and once you die your dead.

Seems like 3D minesweeper to me.


Am I missing something here?

ehh its ok its probably alot funner with buddies but by yourself its run find some decent gear (maybe) then get killed by a zombie or some other player. or u fall off a small ledge and break your leg and bleed out

I fell off a 2nd story ladder in a barn, broke my legs, no morphine so I have to crawl. Stopped playing, lol.

lol i probably fell of the same barn as u. steps on each side with 2 ledges? fell from the first ledge which is like 3 feet and snapped my leg. u wanna group up? we can carry each other after we inevitably break one of our legs

Actually, I've read in an interview that the dev team works in the army.
Their goal is to develop an experience as authentic as it can be... as real life as possible ( Plus the zombies ofc)

youre not supposed to be a one man army mowing down hordes of zombies in an apocalypse, the aim is to survive, not just kill zombies. The realism is what makes it good.

i would explore the whole fkn map and loot all houses, but brb crouching takes you ages to go anywhere, brb running immediately zombies, brb no map.
i mean that guy you are playing has to live there and have at least an idea where something could be. if they want to keep the game that realistic...

also, no one talks in the damn group chat, wtf. brb talking to myself looking for other players to team up.

1. Yes you do not start with a map. You have to find the map. Most of the time I am usually alt tabbing to look at a map online anyway. http://dayzdb.com/map

2. Not all servers have global/side chat. The server you were in probably only had Direct/Vehicle/Group - i.e. you can only talk to people within your immediate vicinity, in the same vehicle, or the same 'group', this is irrelevant in Day Z because there are no assigned groups aside from the BLUFOR, dubbed "Survivors", which is why you can see 'side' chat for servers that have it enabled. Everyone is on the same team per-say, in a normal ArmA II server there could be an opposing side OPFOR in which case they would see Global chat but not see your Side chat. I agree though, while I wouldn't use the side chat for co-operating with anyone or organising anything, I enjoy it for its general banter, and asking question from time to time.

3. Advertising yourself in side chat, your location and where you are is a fast way to get pwnt. If I saw something like that in chat and I was closish you can bet I will be there, probably 200-300m away in the treeline, watching until I got a shot lined up with my enfield.

In regards to looting, better loot come from bigger towns, like cherno, or elektro, I have yet to explore any of the bigger towns up north. Airfields (there is one big one and two airstrips) will contain the more bad ass weapons, MK48, M4A1, M9's, AK74, M107 etc. In the beginning you have to use stealth and learn the glitchy/buggy nature of the engine to lose zombies. I've had some pretty cool **** happen to me, as well as a lot of other people. I actually like playing by myself more than I have with my friends, at least so far. Maybe once they get better at it it will be enjoyable. But for the most part lone wolfing it can be pretty scary. After 10 + hours of playing you will know why I am paranoid and scared. Trust no one, lol.

Don't buy Arma 2 if you don't have anyone to play with. You will spend a lot of time dying from zombies or being shot and looted by other members. It's hell if you don't have a group.

On the contrary, once you get the hang of it, playing lone wolf can be very exciting and scary.

the need to rest/find shelter

less lame zombies

You can already build fires to cook raw meat.

brb intense gameplay while my char takes a four hour nap.
