Breast Implants: To Bench or Not to Bench?

First, I know there are plenty of people who are completely against breast implants. But after losing 95 pounds, I was left with not much more than 2 nipples. I earned them.
Now that that's out of the way, I got implants in February 2009. They are high profile, saline, and under the muscle. Since then, I have not done specific chest exercises at all - no bench press, no push-ups, not much of anything.
I've always been somewhat of a gym rat, but more concerned about getting skinny and losing weight. About two weeks ago I dove into this weightlifting thing head first. My ultimate goal is to compete in the figure competitions in 1 year. That being said - do I do exercises that are chest-specific or not? I know this question has been answered before, but I am still unsure.
    Thanks!

I have them. I had saline first, busted one at the gym, pretty sure it was the ab machine,, Now I have high profile silicones. I do work my chest muscles, but it's light weight, high reps. You do take a chance on one ending up higher than the other. Just be careful and I wouldn't lift too heavy.

I have saline under the muscle and I do specific chest exercises. I do push-ups, dumbbell bench press (flat, incline, & decline), and some bar bench press. I recently tried the guilatine press which was good. I also use the butterfly machine and do it with dumbbells.

In 2009 I got them done with a doctor in St. George, UT. (It was WAY cheaper than getting them done in Vegas). I think the final cost was $3500. But then there's the new bras....new shirts....LOL
I wish I had gone bigger. I'm nearly 6 feet tall and I could have pulled off another 75cc or so without them looking porno big.

How long have you had yours? Are they being pushed to the side at all? Have you noticed any changes?

YOU BUSTED ONE?! *worst nightmare* Which machine do you think it was? Also - how old were they? Don't they have like a 10 year guarantee?

I got mine in November of '08. I had a full lift with implant. I haven't noticed any changes in mine so far. If I do, I would lighten the load slightly and maintain there.

How did you "bust" an implant on an ab machine? That's not normal at all, did the dr. say if you had some other problem that was then aggravated by the exercises. Look at pro bodybuilders, the majority of them have implants.

I also got mine in Feb of '09! High profile, 550cc, under the muscle. I only bench 70 on a good day :/ do plenty of pushups and other chest exercises routinely, and mine are gorgeous still! Love them!

Thanks! That's good info. I finally learned that the bar I use is 40lbs...so if I can get up to 75 or so, I will just stop there. I'm not looking for super strong pecs, but I don't want to be weak either!

Just shop around! I had one doctor quoting me $6k because 1)he was in Vegas and 2)his office was like a freaking palace. I don't need a fancy chair to sit it - just do my boobs right! The doctor I found was amazing - I loved him!

I had mine done in February this year.Had under muscle implants. I still can't do pushups, pullups or hanging leg raises. It hurts like hell and feels like the muscle is being ripped.
Chest press with light weights still does not feel good either.

Yes but bodybuilders probably have theirs over the muscle?

no they dont usually come with a guarantee. some doctors offer capsular contraction guarantees but nothing for the actual implants

Im from europe and saline is very 90's porn star over there. its very popular in the states still though.

I would never get saline because of the risk of them breaking!

It's amazing how weak your chest muscles become after a surgery like that. I remember a few hours after my surgery I tried to flush the toilet and couldn't bear to push down on the handle!!! It will be a long time before you become comfortable doing chest exercises. Yesterday I only benched 50lbs...LOL. I am sure the muscleheads were laughing at that!

So long as it hurts, don't push it. I got mine done in November of 2009. I am just barely getting to where I can kinda challenge myself with bench press again (felt a stinging sensation up until several months ago...haven't felt that in a while, finally!). At first, I just did "air bench" to work on flexibility through that area and once I could start adding weight, it was ridiculous (benching 5 pound dumbbells...trying 10's and having weird pains...back to 5's...LOL). Around the year mark, I was able to play with benching the bar but it didn't feel right. As of last week (this is over 2 years after surgery!), I FINALLY got 3 sets of 10 with 95 pounds and it feels like I'll be able to continue improving (no wonkiness whatsoever). Pre-BA, I used to do sets of 6 (ish) with 155 pounds so I've still got a ways to go before I'm back to where I used to be but it seems a lot more realistic that I may be able to get back there than it did even a year ago! So far, the implants don't appear to be migrating anywhere. Ha!

It took forever to be able to do pullups (or even just hang from the bar comfortably) but that's "easy" again. Your abilities will probably all come back for the most part, even if it does take years longer than you expect (I thought "totally healed in one year" meant "back to normal" in one year...not quite!). If you know what it feels like to lift, you know what a regular muscle contraction feels like so you can differentiate between that and something that may be causing damage to your implants. Just be patient and listen to your body.

I have never had an issue with my implants.. my dr is pleased with how they look and I have never had any pain at all... He knows I lift too. Good luck! my friend did have some issues with hers and my dr told her to keep trying (keep weight light and do simple things first) plus give it time to recover.. some people take longer to heal than others!

I have had no problem. Following my surgeon's orders, within 3 months I could start working my chest lightly and am now back to pushing heavy weights. I don't have an issue with any chest exercise, nothing hurts and my boobs haven't drifted around to my back haha. I went under the muscle, they're some new fancy gel implant. I forgot what they're called already! They're sensational
