The main reason i CBL is because my appetite spikes at night and is low throughout the day (cuz of school) so I routinely pound 500+CHO for dinner with maybe 300-450 throughout the day.

if you do a warrior diet/IF does that count as CBL? cuz then i do.
You are not a fragile ornament ready to collapse into an exhausted mass of goo simply because you squatted more than once in a 7-day week.

It'd be like preparing your entire life to bang 100 chicks in a row, getting tan, hitting the gym, making sure your hair looks right and reading the Kama Sutra, only to realize when you get there that you're gay and cannot get hard in the presence of women.

Anybody got some good exercises for the glutes...I've realized now they are the weak point of my squats and I want to improve my strength in that area...

Big quads and no ass means poor squat form :/

Question to Eric, or anyone who wants to answer: so I'm doing deficit deads now but I only do them on my lower body hyper days. Should I try for low reps, heavy weight or keep with the lighter weight, more reps? These were originally incorporated in my routine to help with the initial pull for DL's.

If you can't squat a weight with proper form due to weak posterior chain, then lower the weight so you can squat with proper form.

RDLs aren't traditionally a good glutes exercise, which is why Bret Contreras made the American Deadlift. Lunges aren't all that great, especially when the person already has glute problems (akin to someone recommending squats for glutes). Step ups slightly suffer from a similar problem.

@Thousandeyes: read Bret's work. Drunk ATM but he has so much **** on this. Activation usually comes first then exercises if glutes are a sore point. Just read his stuff. No point regurgitating his ****.
“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

I'm legitimately afraid to do hip thrusts. At the risk of sounding like a pussy, isn't it easy to hurt your lower back doing them? Doing squats on a bulk put meat on my glutes. Now it isn't painful to sit on a chair at work.

I find weighted hip thrusts very awkward and odd. Squats ftw.

Oh, but like Kim said, it's a really awkward movement. Is there a link to his post or podcast?

Yes, you can but you can on anything. Hip thrusts are no different than the finishing portion of a DL or squats. It's just isolating a finish on a lift.

I don't understand what those using CBL are trying to achieve... I touched on it in my meal timing video but my reasoning why some people might be getting good results on it, well other than they are hitting their weekly macros, would be their choice of supplementation but not appropriate discussion here.

Big quads and no ass means poor squat form :/
If glutes are you weak point in a major lift like the squat why not focus on a squat variation to force you to activate the glutes more as a tool to correct this first? Box squats.
