I posted a diagram in the last thread that showed how to calculate your leverages and then what style to use based on your leverages. Some people might actually prefer a specific style, though, regardless of their anthropometry.
In terms of muscle and function, the sumo activates more quads, adductor, and medial hamstrings but less biceps femoris and erector spinae. Some conventional pullers only pull sumo off season and vice versa. I know Tim Harold thinks that "sumo off the floor is harder and easier lockout" is bull**** but some people think that sumo is easier lockout, harder off floor and vice versa for conventional. Anecdotally, I can confirm this. I can pull a lot more conventional (since I'm weaker off the ground) but I can do a lot more touch and go reps with sumo.
Sumo also has a shorter ROM, too, which means you're going to do less total work (work = force x distance), so this is advantageous for some people.
For squats, I'd only switch to sumo DL if you sumo squat since they tend to be quite similar in style. Because of how the muscles activated in the sumo DL, it'll carryover better to the squat regardless of style but you'll get a even bigger advantage if you squat sumo as well.
In the end, is one more advantageous than the other? Yes and no but it depends on your leverages, squat style, and strengths/weaknesses.“Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.”

Shout out to NegatronPrime who's advice of "rip that kunt off the ground" is the best anyone has ever given me for lifting. Pulled 350 today at 182. Previous PR was 335 at close to 200. I was so weak with my initial pull and have no clue why, my mindset is completely different and the weight is just flying off the ground compared to before.

It'd be like preparing your entire life to bang 100 chicks in a row, getting tan, hitting the gym, making sure your hair looks right and reading the Kama Sutra, only to realize when you get there that you're gay and cannot get hard in the presence of women.

I just found out squat depth matters.
Started doing ATG paused squats with the thighs resting on the calves and keeping the chest up a bit as I low bar squat. Brb, starting completely over with the weights. Feels good though. Before I was squatting below parallel but when I came up my movements started with lifting my butt (which does nothing without vertical movement of the bar) until about parallel then a fair good morning. I'm finally flexible enough to lift the way I want. Hopefully, I get back to where I was fairly quickly.
