Here are the stickies for this thread, you will be directed back to them if you ask stupid questions about the big three:

This is how you bench press, if you bench less than 405 you must watch the entire series before you ask questions in this thread about the bench press or I will neg you:

This is how you squat (this is also a series):

    This is how you deadlift:

The proper technique on a curl is to bring your hand closer to the delt on the same side of that body as the hand in question.

THIS is something that I am curious about. I do get a good bit of tightness in my brachioradialis at times, especially after deads. I generally pause at the top and hold it to work on my grip.

So, at this point, will icing it really help since its not in the "acute" phase? As long as I lay off things that hurt it should IO be OK to just keep doing pulls, etc that dont bother it? Aleeve and stretching for a few weeks is what I am thinking (perp's vids.)

Box squating is manly and it is a great training tool. When I hit 5 plates off the box I'll pull it out.

I made a half-joke about this earlier, but my gym really does have the Japanese-Erik Stevens, the Japanese-You. Similar looking build, similar weight, he sumo DLs for 640 lbs and squats nearly as much as his DL at like 610-620, and his bench is only like low 300ish. So, you aren't alone.

    From other thread:

Originally Posted by FenderElectrics View Post

Background: Been lifting for about a year total - started off doing stupid iso crap then did SS for about 7 months when I learned I was being dumb. Stopped SS about 2 months ago to rehab my knee (I think it's patellorfemoral pain syndrome) and it felt better so I started lifting again and the pain came back. So now I'm rehabbing the knee again. The only exercise I can't do right now is squatting, I can dead lift with no pain.

When I finally had to stop because of the knee pain (note was still progressing on all lifts just couldn't take the knee pain anymore) my lifts were:

Squat 275x3x5 (wasn't light but had room still for sure)
DeadLift 285x5 (same as squats had a little more not a ton this is my weakest relative exercise)
    Bench 200x3x5
    SOHP 130x3x5

When my knee pain is completely gone I want to do a program that has squats every exercise as I loved that about SS and they became my favorite exercise. But clearly I can't do that for the time being.

I'm 6'1'' about 185 right now will post pictures tomorrow in the contest thread but probably about 15-17% bodyfat I'd guess.

I don't know what other info would help if I'm leaving anything out let me know.

    Appreciate any help.

That's a good question, I'm assuming it will be similar to the pain I feel on the back squat but I'll try it out today at the gym. Will report back, thanks.

Just make sure, after it has healed, that you treat your arms as you would anything else. That is, give them soft tissue, mobility, and flexibility work.

Also, how many people here roll out their plantar fascia?

Go back?" he thought. "No good at all! Go sideways? Impossible! Go forward? Only thing to do! On we go!" So up he got, and trotted along with his little sword held in front of him and one hand feeling the wall, and his heart all of a patter and a pitter.

Thanks I appreciate it will definitely check it out.

I figure my DL's are lacking regardless and boosting those while my knee hopefully gets better I won't lose much squat strength.

In! Hopefully I can keep up with this one. Part 1 had more good advice in it than all of the supersite put together.

If you do DLs, you can always do trapbar or sumo since both hit the quads decently, especially the former.

Have you got your knee checked out? If so, what did the doc say?

apologies if this is a rehashed subject (and I know it is but hey that's what the threads for) but what are opinions on conventional vs sumo, specifically pertaining to squats? I suppose more in terms of - for specific purposes/goals/height/kinesthetics, is one more advantageous over the other?
