    Recovery Time

I have searched the forums, and all over the web for a straight answer and I haven't found one. Some people say 48 hours, some say 72. If I do chest on monday could I work it again on Wednesday, or should I wait til Thursday?

I am 18 years old, does age help recovery time? My chest is still a bit sore on Wednesdays from the Monday workout but I have no problem working through it. Opinions/advice? I don't want to focus on doing chest too often and injure myself or have it be effectless

People overthink recovery. You shouldn't wait until a muscle has recovered, that can take literally weeks. If you train it more frequently, the repeated bout effect kicks in and it recovers quicker anyway. Just find a nice balance between frequency and volume.

Apparently you can work traps, abs, forearms, and calves every day, but I just do them twice a week. Other muscles I just do once a week. But I've heard that it's best to give each muscle about two days of rest, but I don't know this for sure so you should research it some more.

You shouldn't work a muscle group more than 2 times a week, although abs you sometimes can.

That means you should allow for 2-3 days for adequate receovery, and really you just need to base it off of how you feel. If you want to play it safe then wait until Thursday to do them again.

OP I believe protein synthesis lasts a maximum of around 36 hours if I'm not mistaken. Working each bodypart 2-3x a week is perfectly ok. Soreness doesn't indicate muscle recovery.

I'm going to work chest again tomorrow and see how it feels. I figure if I went to the gym Monday at noon and then I go again Wednesday at noon that will be 48 hours of recovery time. If this works well I'm going to rearrange my workout routine so I can hit muscle groups twice with a day of rest in between

It should work well, provided you're not doing an ass ton of volume.

Well if I'd tell from my own experience, you recover from a hard workout for about 48 hours for sure.
