on the cusp of 2018 and most of this still hasn't happened. projections of the future 100% are overly optimistic and nothing ever moves as fast as predicted. it COULD move as fast as predicted but unfortunately our fuked up bloated government puts its money in all the wrong places. technology of the future, life extension, space travel, these should be our #1 public spending priorities. but unfortunately its all about taking care of the welfare state and funding a global military empire.

This. Feelsbadman.
Also, OP was apparently basing those scientific breakthroughs on Moore's law and on the assumption that technological progress will speed up. But even Moore says that Moore's law is becoming obsolete and that technological progress has drastically slowed recently.
Now all the tech companies are focused on just making a quick buck with the minimal amount invested in R&D, rather than trying to better the world through science. brb 50 years from now the IPhone 60 comin out. brb it's nearly indistinguishable from the IPhone 10. brb which is barely any different from the original iPhone. "b-b-but you can unlock the screen with your thoughts now. it's so much better" (IPhone 60 fanboy)
