Low Iron - Is that bad for body building?

My iron levels are low. I can't take supplements, because every iron supplement I have ever tried made me very ill. What types of foods do I need to eat, and how much should I be consuming? Also, is that a problem for body building?

    TIA!

Since fatigue is a symptom of low iron, I would say it would be a problem.

    Red meat
    Egg yolks
    Dark, leafy greens (spinach, collards)
    Dried fruit (prunes, raisins)
Iron-enriched cereals and grains (check the labels)
    Mollusks (oysters, clams, scallops)
    Turkey or chicken giblets
Beans, lentils, chick peas and soybeans
    Liver
    Artichokes

All great sources of iron...also, when I was pregnant, the prenatals always made me bad sick to my stomach, so I started taking Flintstones With Iron and never had a problem with mine throughout

Thanks for those suggestions! I'm not much for fish, but meat is a definite go I like the idea of using children's multis instead. I didn't even know they still made the Flintstones vitamins! As for the prenatals, I can totally sympathize. The original ones my OB had for me were the horse sized pills, and there was no way I was going to swallow those. So I was given chewables instead. I felt like a baby, but it was better than nothing I guess.

Have you tried Proferrin? It's the only one that works for me.
