Caloric surplus on training days, deficit on rest days?

Just an fyi, I follow IIFYM. I'm curious on everyone's thoughts on eating a 500 caloric surplus on training days, and eating a 500 deficit on rest days as opposed to just eating 500+ every day to bulk and -500 every day to cut? I'm currently cutting, but I'd imagine this could be a way to slowly but effectively recomposition ones body? In theory you'd be eating enough to gain on the training days, and eating little enough to cut on the rest days. Thoughts?

I stay at a deficit everyday but up carbs on certain days...many pros i read on and other articles kind of suggest the opposite....on rest days make this ur refeed with minimal to no cardio...reason being so u dont deplete glycogen ur adding back to muscles. This may apply more so if ur on a low carb cut...not sure ur goal macros.

or you just refeed after your workout.... therefore you aren't depleting...

Thanks for the input brahs. My goal right now is to cut a bit. I'm just doing the whole 500 deficit every day. I would rather stay at the same weight though and recomposition my body instead of getting lighter. I figured the method I mentioned above could work.

Cycle calories and see how you do. Never know until you actually try. You may in fact recomp as you hypothesize.

I tend to have more cals when training back and legs cause the training is a bit more brutal. Helps me with recovery.
