youre partially right.
I may not be able to hit a 100mph fast ball but I gaurentee that I can Throw, Run, and Catch. Thats 70% of the sport right there.
Ohh and I can also wait around for something mildly exciting to happen for a ludicrous amount of time, so there is an additional 20%.
I can play 90% of baseball.

LOl'd strong understanding of soccer. It's not cross country, it's more like sprint intervals. A combination of fast twitch and slow twitch muscle fibers are essential to be good at the sport. Being fast as phuck and agile is imperative for every world class soccer player...
Your average soccer player is far more athletic than your average baseball player, professionally speaking. Not even up for debate.
Would love to see a baseball player, run for 90 minutes. Something they probably haven't done cumulatively throughout their lives.

"By 2050, the proportional shares shift quite dramatically. Less than 53 percent would be non-Hispanic White; 16 percent would be Black; 23 percent would be Hispanic origin; 10 percent would be Asian and Pacific Islander; and about 1 percent would be American Indian, Eskimo, and Aleut."

Not strenuous? hitting a 100mph fastball or an 80mph slider with enough strength to send the ball 500 feet is not strenuous? Covering the outfield in a few seconds and making a diving catch is not strenuous? Split second reflex catches and rocketing the ball across the infield is not strenuous?
Here we go with athleticism again, please define that term for me.i rape back.

Mind = blown at this thread.
How can anyone claim the US sucks at sports? Do you people watch the Olympics? Our athletes are always competitive with the rest of the world in most events.
I'll concede that we are not very good at football (soccer), rugby, cricket, and probably other sports, but to say our nation is not good ar sports...
Just LOL. Haters be hating so hard.~KingsAge crew~

do you know what strenuous means? Swinging a bat, is not strenuous. Running 30 feet and then getting a 5 minute break is not strenuous...
I'm not saying baseball is easy. But strenuous is one thing it is not. Go out and play 10 minutes of soccer and you will have exerted far more energy than playing an hours worth of baseball.

It's all relative, you're obviously exerting energy by hitting a fastball a long distance. 500 feet rarely happens so not sure why you're using that as an example.
But when you compare hitting a ball to playing soccer or basketball...No, it's not strenuous. It's more strenuous than sitting on your couch, but it's less strenuous than a short sprint.
My idea of athleticism is a combination of well developed slow twitch and fast twitch muscles. An ability to show variation among athletic traits (speed, agility, strength, stamina) rather than being heavily lopsided towards just one...
When you compare a baseball player (speed, agility, strength, stamina) to a basketball player, soccer player, football player, hockey player...They don't measure up. Sure they might have one trait over others but their versatility is not comparable. There are always exceptions to the rule, but the average baseball professional is not as athletic as the average professionals from other sports
