.84 HD handle. It's the only one they got in so i rolled with it.
Shaved with the merkur 34C this morning and a Gillette silver blue. Which was awesome because im cleaning up my house to sell in a few months and i found 2 packs of these bad boys. I'm definitely getting this down really well. I could immediately tell a difference between these and the Vokshod's i normally use (which i loved most for my skin). Initially when i got the silvers i really couldn't tell months ago. Definitely getting the technique down.
And hnnnnng i forgot how nice Stirling's Margarita's In The Arctic splash was.MFC

Ok bruhs. Looking to add to my soaps. Have some Stirling, and running out of Tallow and Steel. I liked the tallow and steel but gut dayum it seemed like it didnt last long at all for the price. Was going to go w/queen Charlotte but looks like they are out of commission now.

this group sure did die off....
I tried wet shaving about 15 years ago and WOW...I shredded my face with a DE razor. I can't remember which one I had at the time, but it was a very popular one.
I had bought the razor, all sorts of different blades, soaps, and creams etc...
I tried several blades and I just couldn't get it figured out. It hurt so bad.
I'd like to get back into it and try again. My facial hair is so thick. I have to shave everyday and I hate it! I have tried so any different brands of razor blades. The only one that works as of now is a gilete mach 3.
Any other razor/blades I shave with it feels like its ripping the skin off my face rather than shaving the hair.
Can anyone give me an updated run down on the process ?
Which razor is 'best' at the moment?
What about blades ?
Soaps?
Creams?
Brushes etc.?
I will rep for solid info.

Pick a shop and check out their wares. Stirling or Maggards can't go wrong, Maggards has the better razor selection tho. Italian Barber or West Coast Shaving have huge selections, easy to get lost, better deals, but more crap to sift through.
Aight, I'll put together a setup, won't necessarily be best deals cos I ain't price comparing here:
Razor: https://maggardrazors.com/products/m...etime-warranty
This is a stainless steel handle and head combo (head will last forever, screw won't corrode or break like with pot metal), CNC milled (tighter tolerance, less blade play). $60 for this is a steal. Only con is it's Chinese/Pakistan origin, however Maggards has these built and have good standards.
Blades: https://maggardrazors.com/products/v...des-100-blades
Voskhods, $12, extremely good quality Russian blades, and cheap. I get the fewest cuts and easiest shave with these.
Brush: https://maggardrazors.com/products/m...ing-brush-24mm
Synthetic brush, $12. Why synth? Better shave for the money, no prep and easier to start for the beginner. If you want badger you gotta spend a lot more to avoid crap. I had a Tweezerman for about a decade that was serviceable but when I got the synth it was a huge step up despite being the same price.
Soap: https://maggardrazors.com/products/s...ing-soap-5-8oz
Stirling Executive Man. Keeping it simple with Stirling here, this particular scent is "inspired" by Creed Aventus, and is pretty popular. Stirling has one base, is cheap, no fancy marketing gimmicks, and is just really great soap. You can also get cheap samples, last I checked they're about $3.50 for 1 oz (lasts a month+).Virtue is its own reward.

I already shave with a DE safety razor and own Gillette Mach 3 and Sensor handles, how hard is it to shave with a straight razor?
It's the only way of shaving I don't know how to do. I also own an electric that I rarely use.
What are good straight razor brands?"I don't mean to sound bitter, cold, or cruel, but I am, so that's how it comes out."
