Came upon one of those boutique shops in the downtown/midtown area this afternoon, the kind that sell quirky vintage things like cigarette tins from the '60s and used Louis Vuitton purses. I went looking for old-school shaving items and only found some really bad looking old boar brush and a bowl of Crabtree & Evelyn Sienna soap. Was not a good day at all.

it is, I have tossed it around for quite a while and I know I will like it.
I enjoy everything old school from classical music to my hair style even my drinks. My lifting is old school classic 60's too. Almost forgot I even drive a 1965 Lincoln... Doesnt get much more old school or as classy as that.
I am sure as soon as I get my stuff and start using it I am going to regret having spent the last 15 years using disposable vibrating plastic razors.**KNEE DRAGGERS UNITE**

I've started using a shavette. I use it with feather blades (not recommended if your new to wetshaving). So far I've had good results using it with tobs lavender cream. I'd like a straight but just can't afford the outlay at the moment. I still keep a safety razor for when I'm in a rush as the last thing I want to do is rush a shave using a straight with a feather blade in it.

Just take it slow, each razor has a different feel to it, you just need to get used to yours.
I have a bunch of old school gillettes I picked for around $15-20 each, currently using Blue Personnas made in Israel (best blades for me, cheap as hell too!) with either CO bigelow or razorock.
Haven't shaved with it in a while, I prefer the stubble look, although I do wish my hair grew quicker so I can get to wetshave on a daily basis** Kai Greene Crew **

I bought a sweet Gillette DE blade with the barn doors and knurled handle. Im going to clean it up and offer it to anyone here who wants it. Preferably someone who wants to try wet shaving or anyone who wants to try a vintage gillette. Ill post pics when its ready.
Ill give the blade away, ill just ask that whoever wants it pays $5 for shipping.

I've been Wetshaving for well over 3 years because of the previous thread that is now closed and one lesson ive learned is to NEVER skimp on your Pre-shave face prep. For the past few months I've been Wetshaving pretty monotonously and havnt been careful and that has ensured of me cutting myself every shave. Well, tonight, I went back to the basics, I prepared my face properly, used a fresh blade, used the lightest possible pressure when using my safety razor, went slow, and used good angles. You know what the result was?? I HAD THE PERFECT SHAVE! I had zero cuts and felt pretty awesome. Btw, is it just me or is it that the more you wetshave, you naturally gravitate to soaps? I used to hate soaps, but now I love them and can't be bothered with creams. I hate creams
