I believe I've had about 3 Col. conk soaps over the years and I've enjoyed them all. I boar brush face lather, and I "maybe" have to work the Col. conk a little longer to get a good creamy lather compared to Proraso. You also don't get a nice-ish container like you do with Proraso (the Conks I've ordered all came in a little flimsy plastic container).

I use an omega 49 everyday. The only soaps I've used are arko, Van Der Hagen and williams. I like how easy creams are to lather but I like the slickness of soaps.

What do you guys store your stuff in? I having been thinking about finally putting together a proper shave den. I plan on getting a nice bathroom cabinet to hang on my way. More than likely with a towel rack so I can hang my strops. The RAD has kicked in again and I am going to drop some big money on razors, creams, aftershaves and anything else I can find. I think my wife is getting me a tony miller strop for xmas this year. I have my fingers crossed. That will look real nice sitting next to my Kanayama #3. Pictures will follow at some point....

Yep. Of course wash off the left over cream/soap. Let it dry a bit, but then you really need to wash it off after. It tends to dry out your face a bit and leave a little residue. Use mine every time.

I am just going to spend a 100 bucks on a nice one. I go to Lowes and home depot enough already so I might as well pick one up.

just got all kinds of goodies from Garrys sample shop, cant wait to try everything. Tried Tabac soap earlier and it was awesome.

Also ordered some witch hazel to throw into my routine.

I really cant get a quality close shave on my upper lip without irritation. I have a problem with irritation there so I have resorted to just using my electric razor on my lathered mustache. Hopefully I can quit that soon, but its best for me right now. Any tips or suggestions?

I restored this antique machinists chest and store my stuff in there. GOAT storage solution











I also use these extremely hard to find antique chemical bottles, with glass stoppers, to hold my witch hazel, clubman, Mouthwash, etc. Best shot is to get these on eBay. Good luck finding them in person. I have even more than what's pictured.

I have a Russian leather strop from Illinois Strop Co. Its got the leather strop with the linen strop on the other side.

I also use a Norton 4k/8k combo stone and a 12k Shapton

Thanks man, I found those bottles to be the best novelty bottles for me. I know another wetshaver here was using hot sauce bottles to store his liquids lol

I also use a Norton 4k/8k combo stone and a 12k Shapton

Nice! So far I have a Zulu gray. After I get my tony miller I plan to get a Illinois strop to complete everything. If you have the money get a kaminyana before they aren't made anymore. The maker is like 90 years old and lives in Japan. You will not regret it

If it's one of those crazy Japanese straights, ive looked into those in the past. Most of them are hollow ground on one side though, making it easy to shave one side of your face but not the other without being ambidextrous or a contortionist.

Also check the spelling of that razor. I'm looking for it but can't find it. Or link me to one so I can check it out

Garry threw in an extra free sample of Proraso green pre/post and I just used it for a pre-shave before Proraso white cream lather. I have sensitive skin and that chit was like burning my face.. Too much menthol for me

Could feel burning and stinging all over my face, good indication that I'm not good at this stuff yet haha

Even after a long time of shaving with a safety I still get some burn on areas that I was careless / sped through. You learn to love the alum sting after a while.

How did you learn to hone properly? I have a Coticule, I find it still very difficult after almost two years. Watering down the slurry is being done carefully. Keeping angle too and the pressure. Well, I think so, but the results has never been HTT, so clearly doing something wrong. No matter when I hone my Puma, ERN or Dove.

Is that your only stone? If so you should add in another where you can properly set the bevel. You can fully hone on a that but it will take hundreds of strokes. NVM.... Then! I do not have the touch for it either. I have a zula gray for touch ups in between honing. Every time I have used I mess up the edge. I just got a cheap JT Torrey to start practicing more. Sadly I normally just send my straights out to a friend on b&b who hones them for free.
