The hype is real.Souls of Mischief and Adrian Younge are gearing up for the release of their collaborative album There Is Only Now. Today, they debut the title track from the project featuring Snoop Dogg, which any serious hip-hop head will appreciate, as it brings together old school production with some serious bars from Snoop and company that will have you feeling like you're back in 1994.
The album is slated for an August 26 release. Along with Snoop, There Is Only Now will feature Busta Rhymes and Ali Shaheed Muhammed.

Some more that are under appreciated that you may not have heard yet:
Peep Bumpy Knuckles albums Industry Shakedown (released 2000, but with a mid-90s sound)...
... and Crazy Like a Foxxx (recorded in 1994 but not released till 2008).
Das EFX's 1995 album Hold It Down (Top 10 all time imo, maybe top 5). Some of the more hardcore tracks:
GP Wu's 1997 album, "Don't Go Against the Grain"
If it don't touch my soul then I can't listen to it.

How is Riff Raff's - Neon Icon?
I've listened to Soulo more today and it just feels like a filler tape, I don't get the message what so ever, feels very disjointed as a project, some of the vocals are hard to hear, feels like it wasn't mastered and finished properly. The only song I do like is Trees.Founder of the Jason Genova archive.

That new Amerigo Gazaway mash-up ish....
Amerigo Gazaway - The Big Payback Vol. 3: J.B. & The Soul Mates
This time around, Amerigo takes on James Brown in The Big Payback Vol lll. In the third and latest offering from "The Big Payback" summer mix series, the producer follows the exceptionally awesome first and second volumes from the legendary DJ Scratch and master craftsman, J. Period.
Bringing together a fantasy league of all-stars for his "J.B. and The Soul Mates" tribute concept, the producer's latest offers an alternative to the sometimes uninspired, profit-driven, posthumously released albums.
With guest appearances from Bob Marley, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Fela Kuti, The Notorious B.I.G., Mobb Deep, and more, Amerigo pays tribute to the God Father of Soul with a re-imagined set of co-conspirators.
"I'm not sure any other artist has left their imprint on popular music, especially across so many genres, as much as James Brown has. With as many of today's hit songs that were built around some sort of James Brown flip, it's almost like he had a say in what the music of future generations would sound like without even knowing it."

3.The Notorious J.B.'s - Sex Machine Gun Funk (Soul Mates Remix) 04:09
4.Mobb Brown - The G.O.D. Father of Soul Pt. III (Soul Mates Remix) 05:13
5.Fela Brown feat. Jeru the Damaja - Funky Black President (Soul Mates Remix) 03:09

Hey guys,
I'm looking for some 2Mex albums (from The Visionaries), pref in 320 or 256.. The guy is prolific and has a discography a mile long.
In particular a CDr EP he released called Gloria Was a KROQer. Got some sweet Weezer mash ups on there. Also any other of his albums you stumble across.
Cheers

Nice post. My only issue is that people are too quick to judge. Music is one of those things that you have to let simmer or grow on you. Some stuff you're going to like right away. Some stuff is going to take more time and in the end you still may not like it but at least you gave it a proper chance.

"The “Searchin” mix is a near hour long playlist of original songs sampled in rap classics and currents favorites. Frank The Butcher & DJ7L dug in the crates to unearth compositions that could be found in songs by The Throne, ASAP Rocky, G.O.O.D. Music, Nas, Schoolboy Q, Ghostface, Mobb Deep, Rick Ross, Wu Tang, J Dilla and more."
This is a great breaks mix, was just listening to it and thought I'd put it up here in case anybody missed it and digs these tapes.
