This theory is baseless BS, probably cooked up by some Evangelical extremist of some sort or another and has absolutely no empirical evidence to back it up. It is not even a hypothesis, it is just someones idea based on the shabbiest of theoretical grounds. Yes dopamine d2 receptors downregulate in response to over activation but this is only seen when dopamine levels are raised continuously for extended periods of time. Like taking amphetamine every day for 3-4 days then you will notices significant downregulation. The transient effect of an orgasm(especially the lame ones that one achieves through masturbation rather than the real thing), on dopamine levels will do nothing of any consequence as far as my understanding of the way receptors up- and downregulate is concerned.
