You don't have a problem. You want to build muscles and cut fat at the same time. Pick one or the other and run with it until you get the results you want with one goal. Then switch goals and run that for a while. Then you will have both. Bulk, then cut.
You only think it's a problem because you can't effectively do both at the same time.

    Agree.

OP: at 6-foot and 176, it's time to add some muscle...IMHO

You need one or more of these: more food, more weight, more reps or more rest.

Ok so even the docotor says I need to put on more muscle. I know to lift heavy but how true is the whole thing of one gram of protein for your goal body weight

Different schools of thought but 1 per lb is a good goal

Agree. 1/lb is a safe start. Don't forget the fat and some carbs... you will need a caloric surplus to add muscle.

    Thumbs up

THANKS for the advice. That's what I was thinking 1 gram of protien for every pound of muscle I wanted to be that's what your saying right. I'm calorie intake is 2220 a day. Does that sound good. I have been more of a weight lifter not a body builder. Now I just want to get in the best shape possible.

    I'm guessing you're in your mid-20's?

If you want size, you may need a bit more calories, but start at 2220. I see you are at 15% BF and I assume you want to drop a little BF? If so, let your body pull a little from your middle before you bulk up more...
