Anyone doing anything this weekend?
HustlaBall is going on in NYC. I am not in attendance. Not that I would be known anyway...
My new job at the new church starts this weekend. And while my life as a callboy is about to end, I find myself in exactly the same place I was five years ago. This time I take the other path. Taking a while to lay the ground work, but so far all is well. The thing I like least about the treadmill is that I can't run from my farts. -- Source unknown

Hello
I figured I'd give a small introduction of sorts. I am a bi guy currently enlisted in the airforce in active duty. I'm starting back up at the gym after a depression that lasted since early last year that finally started to clear up after I got suicidal from my job and some of the people I work under. I'm thankfully swiftly getting back to where I was in strength and size but need to work on losing the small gut I gained in my off time. I'm back at it full force, changed the diet back to one I used for cutting before I went into the depression, and am loving the feeling of both challenging myself at the gym and the resulting soreness from doing so.

I feel the same about some of the professionals who seem to spend a lot more time than I would think would be needed, like Cedric Dyon and Antoine Valliant I wouldnt doubt have at the least fooled around some. That's not taking in account all the testosterone in their system probably getting em to need bust a nut or three.

If you stand in a place where you know in your heart things are wrong, most things around you will never be right.
Rule number one, never work at being what another man defines as being "honorable", Honorable is is being true to what you know and and doing what you know is right for you..

Nice to see all the posts while I was away. I came down with a brutal sinus infection about 10 days ago. Thing knocked me on my ass in less than 10 hours. Woke up at 4am that same night confused, drenched in sweat, in pain, ...it was horrible. Unfortunately it took my appetite and sense of taste away as well as all my stamina so I wasnt able to work out or even really eat. Thankfully around Sunday this week I finally began to feel better. I worked out several times this week so far and am excited to get back on track. I'm also gonna start taking what I eat more seriously. I believe in IIFYM, but I've honestly been using it as an excuse to just eat random stuff and try and rationalize that oh well it's fitting some macros somewhere and since I'm working out it will sort itself out.
Oh, I broke up with my girlfriend too. >.> it turned out that for 6 weeks when I've been telling her how much I care for her and love her and am commited to her, she claims she never really felt the same but waited until after she had a Skype call with her ex to man up and tell me. (This was after she was adamant about me being real with her.."all I want in a relationship is transparency and you being real with me"...and she can't even do tat herself. >.>) ugh. Dating/relationships are annoying sometimes. I literally decided I'm gonna make the gym my partner for now. At least let me be commited to something that won't let me down.http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=159075431 << workout log.
(at some point I'll be putting in like crazy bench, squat, deadlift, clean press numbers here...until then. HI :D )

Heading out on yet another vacay in a week...!!
I've been with my company almost 30 years, so usually I end up losing vacation time, since it is tough to get away....somehow was able to schedule two trips within 5 weeks....
Heading out on the MSC Divina for a 7 nighter out of Miami...Can't wait!! We got upgraded to a Veranda room...! It's been years since we've had a balcony....Frankly, we just don't spend much time in the room when we're on the ships....we will this time, tho....!!
It is also a Halloween cruise, so that's always fun.......Chicago White Sox. 2005 World Series Champs!!
Chicago Blackhawks!! 2010, 2013 & 2015 Stanley Cup Champs!!!

Am I self-centered or is it just me?
I'd kill for a Nobel Peace Prize.....

I started off reading about ingredients of products and the pitfalls of concentrates and proprietary blends. That led me to Jim Stoppani's website "jymsupplementscience.com" where he talks about these issues in depth (I think it's okay to mention the website since he links back to bb.com to buy his products). My mother was a nurse and my dad is a doctor, so the science of nutrition really speaks to me. What he has to say really struck a cord with my prior knowledge as well as all the reading I've done.
I'm new to weight training, but I've read numerous books on fitness and nutrition. I just think Stoppani has some very good principles backing his products. With that said, I'm not sure if I'm entirely sold on just how much quality products makes a difference for results - as strange as that sounds. Why? I see people with tremendous physiques who have been using crappy products for years. If good vs. bad products made that big of a difference, these people wouldn't be in the position they currently are. I think a good program and good nutrition far far FAR out-weigh any supplements.
Well now, that was a bit too much of a rant for this time of morning.

I agree with quality- I think it is important in a world where lack thereof is very much so accepted and to an extent unknown even. Though to contrast that, to some degree it does seem that in certain instances some make it work with some things that are far less better for us to take.
I agree 100% about nutrition and activity being key- though it's hard not to get caught now and then reading about this brands and that brands different proteins. I cannot recall which thread it was here, perhaps I'll dig it up- but there was this one protein that was spoken about very highly and was rather pricey too boot. Sometimes I think I'd like to give them a try to contrast it to Optimum Nutrition's Gold Standard. Though I've not tried the wheys I mentioned earlier from Optimum- figure why not give a different brand that seems to be rather well spoken about on here a go. I'll go dig up the brand . . . .Do not boast old woman. Your death sits in that cage.

Something I'm starting to wonder about is getting whey, casein, etc. proteins from a powder blend vs. just eating one type of protein from a whole food like chicken breast. Everywhere I look I hear people say that whole food is better, and I get that. But, I'm wondering if a protein powder is a good supplement for all the other things you're getting (if it's a good powder) aside from just the protein. If you can get nearly all your protein from whole foods, do it. Then, push yourself over the finish line with a powder to get the last bit of protein and some extra goodies - like in Pro Jym the calcium (since you don't want calcium in your multivitamin from my understanding). I don't eat/drink much dairy, so without it I'd be short on a lot of calcium.
Again however, is getting casein, whey, and egg protein from a powder blend all that important when I could get all the protein I need from chicken? I literally have several freezers full of chicken. The protein powder is more like a treat/snack than a necessity for me, I feel.

I wholeheartedly agree with that, if you can get it from food- do so. Though I'm a vegetarian and a picky one at that, so that in addition to a work schedule that sucks for getting food/meals in- I do depend on powders a great deal throughout the day. Sometimes it does help me realize I just need to carve out the time to be sure I have a plan about food- but having a mixer on deck just really helps me out for so many reasons.
