The greatest fantasy book I've ever read and you probably have never heard of it

Is The Stormlight Archive worth reading? I've read a chapter or two but I'm having trouble sticking with it.

Hate to say it, but it's not worth the money if you're looking for more than a Sunday afternoon read. I certainly enjoyed it though, brought back some good childhood memories

Yeah the 2nd book kinda went downhill with that stuff. Fools Gold, on the other hand, is just about a gang of misfits. Granted, there is some of the usual "nobles are awful, they literally chit on us" stuff, but there's really no political plot. Check that one out

I'm wondering when it picks up. I read the first (Name of the Wind) and while it was certainly interesting, not all that much happened.

Now I'm early on the in the second one, and kinda just more of the same. It's pretty danged mundane with him at the Academy. I can only read about his studies, and making stuff at the Fishery, and reading in the Archives for so long... yawn.

Does it pick up?

I think the next 5 are where he ties it all in with the rest of his Cosmere that he's building. Characters from his other books might be crossing over. I know Kelsier will be returning back to life.

I think most people would say no, and that if you aren't digging it yet, you won't like the rest of book 2. However, to me book 2 was more exciting. There is 1 scene in particular that is absolutely epic.

Your choice if you want to keep reading. Popular opinion would be to drop it if you still aren't enjoying it

Very true. When he accidentally leaked 1 page of book 3, he compared the page being distributed to being sexually violated. LMAO. It was a page with no spoilers at all for Book 3, and it was his fault for showing it on screen during a live stream

Dresden Files just gets better the more I read. Stayed up reading 'til I finished the next book last night.

For all you guys who didn't get it after 1, keep going. Everything just comes round, Dresden is constantly getting stronger/ fighting bigger enemies. I think that's what makes it so good, it feels the story is constantly evolving and pulls together so well.

It got a surprising number of likes. I always felt like people on goodreads are just like redditors. They'll defend Rothfuss regardless of all his bullchit.
