does beer affect results?

Not much, as long as it isn't an extreme intake on those 2 days. Keep in mind that test levels remain lowered many days after alcohol consumption though, so it's your choice.

Darn it - does it really make that big a difference to test levels and protein synthesis? I've tried to reduce my drinking but I like the occasional beer during the week and I tend to get completely rat arsed once or twice a week. I'm guessing this isn't a good idea?!

just keep in mind that all those calories are "empty" calories. How much do you have to drink to get trashed? I guess about 100 cals per beer. Thats why I stick with shots!

well to be honest i have the occasional beer but when I get trashed I drink vodka - I'm guessing that half a litre of that stuff isn't great for me either!

I did try to give up, lasted 3 weeks but I just like drinking too much

i think a shot has just as many calories as a beer.

you are right, especially if they are the gay fruity ones. Now shots of gin are around 70 cals, but who would want one of those. I drink to be social anyway, well sometimes, so the bigger the drink the better IMO.

when alcohol enters your body, any chance of protein synthesis or fat burning is shut off.

protein synthesis is completely supressed with alcohol in the body.

once your body is done going through alcohol, then it can get back to using fats for energy (fat burning).

yes, shots do have about 100 cals each, but it doesn't take near as many to get wasted! hence less cals.

I think a shot is equal to beer in terms of alcohol content unless your shooting 151 which would have more calories.
