If you make the drive to DE, there's a guy who sells old York stuff. There's also a great guy in Richmond who flips gear (and refinishes plates) and he often gets York plates. He's got 300 pounds of beautifully refinished York 25s, 10s, 5s and 2.5s right now on cl for $200. I drew the limit for my personal collection at 1530 pounds of York plates, not including 100s. That's six full 255-lb sets and it doesn't include the metric plates. Expect to pay 50 to 85 cents a pound. Once I started finding Yorks, I couldn't stop. They are really plentiful if you are patient.
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Hey, just got home after picking up some plates to refurb. What a trip, but that's another story.
I'll get some better pics, with some other shots of my better condition York stuff later, but I picked up what appears to be an ancient York bar and a couple of York 35s (milled).
I got some other plates with them that are a bit of a mystery. Can anyone tell me what the manufacturer of the 45s is? Is that some sort of old school Hampton logo? They say made in the USA on them. I'm not sure about the smaller plates, either. They don't seem to be milled like the York 35s though so I'll probably just clean them up, paint and sell them. It looks like I'll have to do a KastorTroy and clean up the bar a bit (with CLR?), but the ends spin freely so with a little love it will be nice to have a second York bar.

Oh yeah, that's it. The smaller plates are Hoffman as well it seems. I found this on Google and it's what the little ones look like

Hofmann (not Hoffman) Industries. Good plates. The bar is from the 1980's. It will clean up.

Nice pickup and those York 35's are sweet. I'm hoping someday some York 35's pop-up on craigslist near me. Defiantly looking forward to the before and after pics of the bar!

Oh? Great news, I have a lot of that on hand. I'll give it a shot. Did you just wipe it on? Do I need to "apply" it to the bar for very long?
Do I need to be wary around the collars or is it safe to apply it liberally? I have no experience cleaning up anything aside from some plates with a wire brush drill bit.()---() York Barbell Club #5 ()---()
