Nice deal OP.
Since no one has stated it........I would definitely say that the seller throwing in a $100+ Inzer lever belt does in fact make the seller "way cool"

Atty - does that CLR take off pitting? The Blaster and wire wheel did a great job on everything but there is still some pitting. I tried one of abrasive wheels on my patina'd bar, that didn't work so well.

If the metal is damaged, it is damaged. . .
You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

The vintage York standard plates will fit a 1" spinlock bar. These are all Olympic plates with 2" holes. So, you'd need a lot more girth.

Agreed. My wife doesn't actually care what I spend, but sometimes she prefers not to know. I take some of my weekly spending money and sock it away, add money earned from flipping, and then talk to her about what I'm going to buy. She asks how much money is going to come out of our account to buy it, doesn't care about anything else.

Don’t worry guys, she doesn't know the exact number. The secret budget is defiantly a good idea. My home gym is in the basement, and she has to walk past it to get to the washer and dryer. I bought everything you see in my pics in less then a month. It made quite a drastic change to the basement, which started as a flat bench and a couple dumbbells; I also did flip some Ivanko dumbbells that helped the cost. I since gave her some extra money out of the blue to spend for herself on shopping, which lifts my ban

Resurrection bump. I've been reading thru a lot of threads to find the best method of cleaning up the York bar I picked up today. I found this post which appears to be the birth of the York barbell club. So instead of a new thread or bumping another, I chose this one.
A quick scrub down with the heavy duty 3 in 1 has already made a difference. The bar Appears to have a bluish tint in the center portion which I suspect is patina. I might try some clr to see what that does. Was thinking of taking it apart but the sleeves still spin.
A couple of questions
what should I use to clean up the knurled areas more, steel wool, steel or copper brush, wire wheel, etc.
Same question but for the collars and sleeves. Was thinking steel wool.
Thanks.I quote with pics. ()---() York Barbell Club #78 (DD) ()---()

I have used the methods mentioned in the above thread and cleaned at least 2 York bars.
The bluing could be original gun blue. I kept it on mine.

Love this thread.
The blue on the bar is the original coating. If you want to be more aggressive in cleaning the bar, use CLR, but do not let it remain on the bar or it will remove the blue. When you are done, wipe down and oil the bar. You likely will find a lot of crap inside the sleeves. It is possible to tap out the brass insert, but why bother? Clean out the insides of the sleeves and then use a liberal amount of white lithium grease on the bar as you re-install the sleeves.
Enjoy that bar.You need a good rack, a bench, and a 300-lb Olympic weight set. Now, what was your question?

Experimenting between work sets. Penetrating 3 in 1, small hand hel brass brush, wire wheel on my dewalt.
Side I am cleaning
Other side I have just wiped down with a rag and 3 in 1
Going to have to try the clr on the knurl, or maybe the vinegar soak to really get in there.
Thanks guys.I quote with pics. ()---() York Barbell Club #78 (DD) ()---()
