    Qcuestion About Grass Fed Whey

I was listening to a couple of guys at the gym go round and round about whey vs grass fed whey.
I googled it and read up, but for the life of me I can't see what would be the great advantage to the grass fed whey ? I realize some whey is better than others and some have tons of sugar ect. Is there really any benefit other than a quick weight loss in the wallet to buying grass fed whey ?

We eat grass fed steaks every now and then but cost wise it is a treat and not the norm. If I win the mega millions I would probably do it more often, but that's about the only way.

what were their arguments pro and con?
I cant see how it would matter seeing as how refined powdered whey is.

Mostly the con to reg was additives, chemicals, sugar, ect , that was said to be the pro (not having) of grass fed whey. I found many of the same ingredients in the grass fed. I only looked at one grass fed whey to be honest. The big draw back to grass fed to me was cost. I was asking mostly as I couldn't see the difference and was wondering if maybe I wasn't seeing the forest through the trees so to speak ?

Isolated proteins are isolated proteins. Grass-fed products matter in the area of hormone profiles and fatty acid content. You're not going to get anything beneficial out of buying whey that was produced from cows eating grass...except maybe a clear conscience that the cows don't have to be force fed antibiotics and antacids.
    Thanks for reading,

I think this is just another supplement company scam, IMO. "Grass fed" does NOT mean that they don't have antibiotics and other drug additives - if they were meeting that criteria, then the whey would be termed "organic" whey.

Dont know if there are any real benefits, but if there are Protein Factory sells Whey from New Zealand. All grass fed and no antibiotics blah blah blah.. for 6.70$ /lb.

A 10 lb bag for 67 + 12 shipping brings you in at $8 /lb. Thats exactly what Walmart sell sales they're Chinese

Are you saying (somewhere above) that grass fed costs more than grain fed? Ha! What a scam. Man, I wish this would have been true when I was raising cattle. I would have saved a fortune in graining. What moron decided cows raised on what is nearly free worth more than those fed corn? Some foo-foo vegetarian I bet. Ol' stringly grass fed beef. Yum. If you really like that better then you've never had good grain fed beef. And nobody please start that crap about it not being "natural". Turn a cow loose next to a field of grass, a field of corn and a field of wheat and I'll tell you what field they will eat in first, second and 3rd.
    Do I even lift?

Isn't a good quality whey filtered to the point it shouldn't matter?

From what I understand, the bad stuff that cows consume/are given usually gets stored in their fat. So, when selecting a high fat cut of beef, it makes sense to go with an organic source. However, there is very little fat left in whey after all of the processing.

I don't really have an opnion one way or another but this may help. It's a excerpt from a primal/paleo site that heavily favors grass fed everything and even they say it doesn't matter:

Grass-fed animal fat is better. Grass-fed meat is better. Grass-fed dairy is definitely better. But grass-fed whey isolate is unnecessary.

The most commonly cited reasons for preferring grass-fed animal products to grain-fed animal products.
    * Grass-fed has better fatty acids. More omega-3, more CLA. Whey isolate contains no fat.
    * Grass-fed has a better micronutrient profile. More minerals, more vitamins. Whey isolate contains neither minerals nor vitamins.
    * Grass-fed has a better taste. Some say its gamey, I say it actually tastes like an animal. Whey isolate has no flavor, so better doesnt enter the equation.

Generally whey sourced from grass fed cows is going to be higher in things like CLA and Glutathione (the l-cystine in grass fed whey absorbs better allowing for better glutathione production). Also cold processed grass fed whey will be much lower in heavy metals, rBGH hormones and glyphosate. Overall its a cleaner protein source and much healthier for the cow.
