We fisherman now, boyos. About to try my luck at the pond. Tying knots is more difficult than I imagined, but I think I got it. I'm trying mono backing with 10lb braid. My reel says 12lb test - does that mean don't go higher than 12lb or I risk damaging the reel before the line snaps?
I think I'm going to try to catch a bass? Just have #6 hooks, small pinch weights, and some nightcrawlers for bait. Might play around with a bobber.

In on fishing gear flex. These reels are so nice. Just a joy to fish. Highly reccomend if you're in the market for a low-pro baitcaster.

I haven't fished in a while and it's driving me nuts. I may make it out this weekend on the ice. Ice right now is 3", gonna be cold next two days but warm the two days after that. So I may make it out but may have to wait until the weekend after.

hey fellas, just a heads up im selling a daiwa lexa cc 300h (its the one with a clicker) if you are interested dm me. It works fine, I've rinsed it after every use (got it new in the spring), It just doesn't suit my needs like a convention reel, and I thought it might work for that scope of use but its too light. I've got pics as well if you want to check it out.

i put 150 yards 120lb braid on my penn fathom 25n with 200lb leader on one setup in case we get to drop on some grouper holes. my other rod, penn slammer 3 i put 100 yards 65lb braid and 60lb leader to yo yo jig with. but theyre mostly catching 7-10lb yellowtail mainly.

its only 130-150ft deep where we will be. they do take runs but if you let them get any line at all they get you into their hole and break you off. thats why i only need a little bit, if i need more i'd be screwed anyway. the drag is locked down and thumb pressure applied to try and keep them out of the rocks. the 100 yards 65lb on my spinner is just in case i hook a grouper on accident with a jig, will at least give me a slightly better chance to get him out.

Year in review.
Living in ohio, i got out for a few smallmouth. really nothing exciting to report. going to get out this week though for some winter fishing with the weather going unseasonably mild. get on some saugeye and hunt a river pike in the dayton area.
I go home to florida twice a year. i fish about 15 days a year down there. Spent time in Cedar Key and Tampa. had some good luck ! crossed tripletail off the bucket list. caught a mess of trout. some nice redfish. 4 foot bull shark a few weeks back. mess of sheephead.
got a lot of friends who have this traveling bucket list lately. some are visiting every sports stadium in baseball or football. some visiting every state park to hike. it had me thinking. I really need to do some traveling and fishing around the country. there is a lot i want to check out.
-Peacock Bass
-Amberjack
-King Salmon
-Muskie
-Lake Trout
-Halibut
-Large East Coast Striped Bass
-North Carolina Bull Reds
-Tarpon
-Louisiana For a large Alligator Gar
So far this is the list ive put together. maybe this is something i can cross off over the next 5 years.
Edit: Here are a few photos.

caught about 30 like this. kept a limit (5 a piece) left them biting, i couldnt even lift my arms anymore it hurt. plus there was seals around and it was becoming impossible to get the fish by them.

Miring all the fish caught lately. Went last Saturday in shore for some bull reds. Got hooked up with a Dolphin and caught a giant sail cat. I still have a lot of fish on my bucket list to check off. Perhaps I'll go through my pics and do a year in review.
