I know I'm reviving an old thread but I was curious about this question in a different context. Working out twice a day but the second workout being focusing on technique for Olympic weightlifting. An example of what I'm referring to would be: - morning - strength training/hypertrophy training - night - snatch/clean & jerk empty bar technique training with some abs maybe. I am worried about overtraining but I can't see an empty bar really taxing my CNS. I want to try to do splits with the second workout consisting of technique and/or flexibility moves. thoughts?

Goal isn't necessarily targeted at mass gaining but I want to keep and still build muscle. My focus is on strength and flexibility as of now.

2 a days all depends on what you are doing and your diet. I do 2 a days but I lift in the morning and crossfit in the evening. Plus I'm 2 weeks into Smolov. I'm making strength gains but I honestly believe it's because I sleep enough and diet enough.

I do cross fit every other day and do strength training on the in-between days. Most days after either or I feel like hitting the gym again but to do something different. Ie abs or light weight technique training. I guess I won't know if it works for me unless I try I would think you would be able to tell if your over training but I could be wrong anyone ever overtrained before? Were there any symptoms?

I mean I do what works for me. There are people that get great results from two-a-days, and there are people that get better results from doing it different. It all depends on your schedule, diet, sleep patterns etc. Everyone is different. IMO I wouldn't suggest two-a-days unless you can get enough rest and food.

you sound like a real a hole. i train with a kid who is 150 and 5 7 and id put money on it he would put you on your ass before you could say "clean jerk". its cocky muscleheads like you who give lifters a bad name. get off the weights and into a REAL gym where men are men and they battle each other not just machines.
