    <3 SQUATS <3 = cure for everything?

Okay, so I know there have been a lot of posts on here lately by people who have seen the light and started doing squats frequently, but they could never get as much love as they deserve, so here's my story.....I'll make it short.

Been struggling with patellar tendonitis for the last year or so....been rehabbing it for the last 6 months by foam rolling, icing, stretching frequently, etc.....but it continues to hurt like hell. I even stop squatting or only squat once every week or two to "limit the stress I put on my patellar tendon".

I say fuk it...i'm gonna deal with it and squat 3 mother effin times a week. I've only been doing this for 2 weeks. Knees/legs feel healthy as they have ever felt and the only variable that changed is SQUATTING. I still ice, foam roll, and stretch a lot.

    DA FUQ?/10

Even got back on the bball court for the first time in a while yesterday, since i've been avoiding it to rehab my knees....I think I might have almost hit my head on the rim a couple times...could jump out da dam gym.

ONLY 2 WEEKS! IDK if it was just perfect timing that I started doing squats as my knees were starting to get a lot better anyway, but naw...I think it's just the squats.

I hate squats. i'm just going to say it.

If I didn't work out entirely at home in my powercage I'd probably never do them, and do leg press instead. As it is I'm doing them three times a week and still making great leg progress.

Besides everyone knows you can substitute squat for leg press, leg curls and a good game of basketball.

    Thanks, frotato.

Squats strengthen tendons, ligaments, joints, etc. It's no surprise, though the majority of people think it's the exact opposite; that squats damage these functionary parts.

Had far less lower back dramas since I started squatting regularly and even better since I started 2 times a week (upped it to 3 times a week from this week).

I doubt leg presses are anywhere as good for overall leg strength, I did them for years but I never got the results I've been getting from squats already.

Looking forward to seeing what JasonDB etc have to say about this.

I had puny legs for years. Started squatting three times a week and my legs are not puny anymore. Knees feel great. That's enough for me to love squats.

And btw in case anyone can't tell I am joking. Obviously leg press, leg curl and game of basketball is a ridiculous replacement for squat.

But no i'm not joking about hating them. Long femurs to torso ratio (combined with probable bad form aand a weak posterior chain lol) makes my lower back always fail far before legs. I greatly prefer Deadlift.

Have checked them out a while ago.

Talks a lot of brotastic training and nutrition, but some of the comments are major lulz

There was one where the background he superimposed into his vid had a balloon landing sounds and all.....ppl were commenting on the background more than the topic matter in the vid, so he cracked it and disabled comments!

    Nothing else is considered squatting.

Which is where? I know what you're talking about, though. Those "squats" where the person goes down 4" and then goes back up. Dafuq?

You forgot to include the mandatory loud ass grunt with weights that are clearly too heavy for them.

Haha. The only noise I make is a strong expulsion of air that sounds like a truck activating its air brakes, and that's rare. I saw some kid doing deadlifts today. They weren't even deadlifts, they hovered about half a foot off the ground and he was rounding his back so much my back started to hurt as a result.

    not srs.

There's a guy at my gym, I swear.....that loads the squat bar up to 405 pounds and literally slightly bends his knees...not even enough to know that he's even trying to do a squat.....and actually tells people he squats 405 for x amount of reps. I feel embarrassed for him every time he does it!
